Photo Rally 2005 - Results are in! 4th Place!

So over this past week I was involved in a photo rally.

Basically 60 photographers from around the world were given one week to photograph their view of five topics.
There was a special bonus topic handed out 24 hours prior to deadline as well.

So if you have some time at lunch today please take a look at the topics and place a vote for each one you feel fully embodies the concept.

Well the results are in! I came in 4th place. Not too bad.
Thanks to all who voted!

Here's my Photo Rally 2005 submissions with a brief explanation as to what I was going for and followed by some out takes and making of shots.
1. Raw - I was going for that horror film look. Trying to see the terror on the egg's faces.


2. Dance - Red and Black dancing together and "joining".


3. Off Limits - Trying to get that out of reach feel. The creepy mask is there to off set the humor of the duck.


4. It's a man's world - She's actually wearing a suit that is too big for her. Like she doesn't fit in. To add to the back story she is a total tom boy.


5. Devour - I created a construction paper mask and taped it on the lens. Trying to get that moment right before the predator gets the kill. Red and yellow gels used.


6. Little Disasters - I was trying to contrast the rather tiny disaster with something much more catastrophic happening in the background. Hence the fire.

man these are really awesome, did you use some insense or candles for the "dance" theme?

man one of these days we have to meet up with all the socal people and we'll talk some techniques, i'm always inquisitive to new ideas and experiment. lately close-up filters have been my best companions

well as usual some awesome stuff here

ahhh, wish i lived in socal so i could come pick your brains about techniques and whatnot too ...and like i said, i think off limits is your best out of them...composition...colours and concept tie in to make a really strong effect.

and the exaggerated shadow of the hand reaching for the duck...ahah, excellent!

injection223 - Nope! That's black india ink and red stamp dye in water shot through a glass. Well you can meet some peeps if you want. We are gathering at the Getty on the 23rd. Check out the SoCal thread.

pumpfart - Hey it's you again! Thanks. You can certainly pick my brain anytime you want. I'll have to make a new tutorial. I did two here that can be found, but I think it's time for something recent.
