Shatterdome's Sketchy book...now featuring nudity, beware..

Well I thought I had one of these going before, but I guess when I went on a hiatus the board deleted it....or it got pushed so far back that I can't find it...gonna try to not let that happen again...here we go...i'm trying to get a feel for a sword dude pic I want to draw, so thats what most of these are...done at work in pen + ink while talking on the phone...

thx for looking, more updates soon as i'm at work doodling now

    Well here's abit more...

I did the "predator" today and think I may use it as a basis for a painting in photoshop...

You'll notice lot's of my sketches are really plain and that's because i'm really trying to get a hold on anatomy and making the body not seem "stiff"....I also know I need to work on faces alot... anyways...

These are some good studies, but I'd take a closer look at the proportions. It seems like the heads are too big or something. It may just seem off because they're done in a cartoon style.

No, I think I do draw heads a tad too large....that's something i'll have to keep in mind...

you are making progress, one thing that I noticed right away is that the neck on your figures are way too thick, almost as thick as the head, try to make them more cillyndrical and a tad smaller

    keep it up

Yeah I really need to work on necks/heads...ill definately keep the size thing in mind...I also learned from this recent page that I need ALOT of practice drawing upview heads...damn, why must they be so tricky to draw properly...

here's my latest half-assed page I did while re-encoding mp3's to better fit a 32mb psp card You'd be surprised how good it makes 1.5 meg, 48 kb, 32khz songs sound...

    anyways...

Hey man. I like that girl a lot. Nice fleshtone and hair. First I thought that one of her boobs(?) were missing, but then I saw it. Maybe make a little more shadow under it, its disapering a little between the hair and the arm. The one boob(?) I can see is...well
Well done. Some work with the knee and hands would make her really hot dude! NIce to see

Boob works....The use of Titty would be appropriate as well I beleive

Yeah there are definately parts of that pictures that I "focused" on more then others haha, but alas I didn't want to spend more then an afternoon on it as I really don't put much stock into life studies, not that they are not useful, I just don't feel like it's "my" picture....

    Thx for the comment tho...

    Daaaamn

Well it's only been 5 years since I posted here, damn time flies. I just graduated with my BFA and with looking for a job I have had lot's of spare time on my hands. I can finally get back into this community, troll the forums and post my "own" work again. The professors in Univ really looked down on any kind of concept or fantasy based art, it was a shame really.

I thought it would be fun to throw up the few pieces I did over the years in the little sparetime I had. The majority of these are from the last week though. I will try to put em in chronological order from oldest to newest. Thanks !

it seems like you need to draw more from observation (from life)
some things look flat and i barely see any sharp edges.

abandon all fancy PS brushes for now and use the hard round (and maybe the soft round) for a week.

also the proportions and figures need work.

    still lifes + gestures.
    ready?
    set
    GO!

Thanks, I definitely need to do more figure studies, who doesn't ;P

I will take a stand and say no I will not abandon my fancy brushes. I do have to refine their usage but never abandon them. The academies said the same thing to Monet, Cezanne, Van Gogh.... ;D

Got my hands on zbrush for the last week or so, I had to it up....I am really torn between 2D and 3D at the moment....I love to wander too much, but how else to see all the world ? Def not a good strategy for getting a job anytime soon
