man you have incredible figurative skills. i think i like your blue lining more than your inking. but you still can't deny that they are bad ass drawings.

Nooooo salary, I can not belive that you think they lack style. You can not imagine how I will love have your style. And the best is not your style is your skill to make us belive that your worlds with this characters exist and this is for me the most important those characters you draw they have a life.

amazing linework. it has probably already been talked about, but what kind of pens do you use when you ink these figures? do you ink them right from the blueline, or do they go through another stage of tracing first?

    it's coming, it's coming....

I was wanting to get something finished together, but that's not going to happen any time shortly, so a few more sketches (you know, dragoneers and heads and speech balloons etc) sooooon....

alas, for now, no. 2 in an occasional series.....

evidence : here you go (sorry about the scan) tools
I'll normally go straight from the blue line to the tracing. On a personal note, I rub the tracing paper down with my palm a few times, the pen line comes out even finer (yeah, yeah, greasy salaryman hands...).

KhenU : who knows, that's be great, but I'm not sure there'd be enough interest. Cheers for the support sir!

camilografix, shyamshriram, tensai, mr. Point, you're all crazy! but soon!

Arri, thanks, that means a great deal. I'd like to think there's a whole background to these characters that people can see, or even add their own.

here's a heads up for CA.org-er rsly75, he's put together a blog catering for info on character design, in a moment of madness he included me on there. Sketches and interviews galore, ignore my contribution and check out some fantastic character work: characterdesign.blogspot

    cheers

pentel makes blue lead? I've been using their red 0.5mm but the blessing and curse is how brittle it is. I'm forced to keep my hand lighter, which gives more graceful lines at the expense of energy.

I love clean linework. I couldn't belive my eyes when I found this sketchbook. Amazing work. There was this guy in once in Heavy Metal ( Metal Hurlant ) that did super line work with a gazillion details. I haven't seen his equal until now. I'll go and scrap my sketchbook now. I need to work on my lines... for a long, long time...

thanks all for the support, the line work updates are coming, I've just been otherwise (very) pre-occupied of late.

I'll comment more with those updates, but for now, here's an old one which is sort of relevant for today, La Valse des Monstres, inspired by Yann Tiersen's album of the same name.

    Till next time...

turns out this is all for now. I know, I know, a let down for me too. Got a whole lot of other life stuff going on right now so updates are going to be fewer and further apart (and god only knows about quality levels...).

    vigostar, yeah, sorry to disappoint!

Badger, I know, I wish it were more exotic too, but.....

bwkeough, energy and grace are certainly lacking in my stuff... but I wish I could blame it on the lead....

Cyberotter, Heavy Metal is where I first found European comic art, I guess it had a profound influence!

Arctis, no, I'm at the other end of the tunnel....too old to get any better... doing games...

thanks everyone, you're all crazy though! The support means the world to me, thank you.

    anyway...

    the usual suspects:

due to the lack of time right now, I think I'm going to set some goals. Some finished pieces or at least some proper full figure designs. I think the heads and heads and heads are getting a little tired and not really pushing me enough.

    We shall see...
