I voted for Xia, because I really like the color and the background, and the sense of depthness on the planet. LOL wow I'm like the only guy that didn't get a vote...oh well, next round i'll color mine, maybe that'll get me some votes

Thanks for the crits guys, yeah I really needed to see what i did wrong so I can fix it next time. Yeah it was all pencil and some parts did needed to have more contrast, it was tricky playing with photoshop to get the right contrast, it's weird i think i'm having problems with what it looks like in photoshop and after it's been filed into a jpeg, the picture becomes darker.

Midway through the symbiotic predators piece I decided to purchase a Wacom Intuos 3 tablet and I'm glad I did. It's worth every penny. The one I was using before was an old artpad 2 tablet that was so old the pressure sensitivity quit working on it. Plus I've only been working digitally since I rejoined ca.o in February so I'm still getting used to using the tablet and Painter. As for future rounds I hope I keep getting better. Thanks for noticing!

Leckronium: I know what you mean, I had an old ArtZII, all scratched up with no pressure sensitivity. I just got my new 9x12 intuos 3 w/ airbrush today at noon. HOLY FUGGIN SHIT. I'm just floored by this thing. I figured it would have a few more buttons, big deal... was I ever wrong. I knew the old tablet was bad but damn, this is like going from a house paint roller to an airbrush! It's so sexy too, all sleek and dark grey. I'm in love.

i voted for fozzybear, awesome concept, well thought out, nicely executed and funny as all shit.

hey thanks for the comments and crits guys! true on all counts as i can see it. i was going for a contrasting image of a monster and a stupid easter egg, as some of you noticed. however, the concept could have been more throughly worked out so that the final image could've had more bang. this reeks of lazyness on my part, and that is no excuse.

My vote went to Matt. This creature looks cool as hell; the evil grin, bright red eyes, and its posture make it look truly evil. The background color was a great choice. This one seems to be truly inspired by the easter theme of the topic, which is another reason why I chose this one.

I thought of adding the names of the runner-ups in the winner-gallery as a form of tribute for the efforts...especially when the poll-results are so close like this one...

So far, the COWs seem to either have a single runaway winner, or a close run between two entries. Would you just list runners up if it's very close, or always include second and third places? Seems like it would be difficult to do fairly.
