New Illustration for animated children's puzzle

Another illustration for the "Secret Place" brand I'm working on. You might have seen a few of these images floating around here and on other forums. All of the imagery will have aspects within them that will animate....lots of fun little eye candy for little kids to look at.

Fun stuff to do...and a nice change of pace from the crazy amount of Concept Art I have to create.

Crits and Comment welcome. Thanks for looking.

    Best,

    Phil

    Hi Phil,

It looks great, very energetic and lively. It has your usual sense of color and motion which is nice. I like the "swirls" everywhere. One tiny crit I would make is that the highlight directly in the center of the bubbles looks a bit off....maybe if they were just off center a bit. The main light source seems to be from below...but you also have a bright source from above...they are competing a bit and flattening eachother out. Anyways, very good work overall. I guess this must be a lot different subject matter than your usual EA work.

Hey Blackarts...thanks for the crit man...
Those aren't highlights on the bubbles...they are little lights inside the bubbles. I hope you don't think I would miss that big of a lighting mistake...he he

    Odds: thats hilarious...SHROOOMS!!

Blackarts...I guess I have to admit ..you brought up a good point...while the light is coming from within the bubbles, there should be a highlight on them as well for the light to be consistant..and I did that..but I guess I flattened that out when I was trying to finish this up for deadline. Damn deadlines and freelance and full time job and oh boo hoo Phil..he he
I popped um back in for ya bud

Very nice coloring I love the environment. The mushrooms kinda looks like spaceships though, not that it bothers me.

buzzy, flurecent lights, nice overall feel. I like it, but it is a little layered, eg. busy for the eyes. But, hey its for kids! nicely done!

    Children? Secret place?

....this reaks of a Michael Jackson endorsement.

seriously though, i like the swirlies. Makes me feel warm and funny inside....and i don't mean in my secret place.

    thanks all for the comments

Sybo..yes yes it does have that layered feel and since its for kids I wanted that type of look (lots to look at) An even bigger reason for that look is the fact that stuff will animate in the scene...so it actually IS layered. It is a bit challenging to work on these scenes becuase I can't quite let it "flow" like my concept work. I have to be thinking about what is behind each object and paint that up as well (since everything moves)

Dude, this is very cool. It will be nice to see the final project in animated form. I showed this to my three kids (age 4, 6 and 8) and they all love it!! Now they want to go create their own mushroom land with fairies. Great work.

I'll be waiting for the final product, I think my kids will dig it.
