    Bernes Sketchbook Update: march 24

    Hi!

Like to thx CA.org and all the awesome artists here, u guys rock =)
I always had a dream, to be able to draw good stuff=) And this site and all the good stuff u find here have filled me with energy to start myself.

I start my SB now and I hope I can look back at it in a year and smile =)
I started drawing and study anatomy a few months ago, and I try to use my new knowledge in my free drawings. So I post a mix of anatomy and free no ref stuff here and some tuts i found on this page(thx fredflickerstone).
I havent started on color yet, I focus on the basics first(anatomy, light
    ,shapes).

Plz give me feedback on my stuff, I love it=) The hader the better=p Im a beginner at drawing but with the help I get here I might get somewhere.
I belive its by feedback and studies that u develope.

    thx

    -Berne

    Hey Berne

This is a very good start! The girl with blond hair is very nicely drawn, seems like u enjoyed spending time working on it. A little crit(sry): maybe the hairline is abit high? Those two lines u do under the noise - just make one and perhaps a bit darker - its an easy way of giving a feel of light - try it and let me know if im wrong. Overall u should work more with light and shadow, making some of your lines darker 2 point out what u think is importent in the figures. Especially with the monsters - they are cool already, but add some darkness 2 them for a real scarry look. Monsters are creatures of the night. Right now theres some really nice drawing lost in brightness. Go darker and they will be really great. The good thing is theres not a lot of work in it, hehe.
    Show me more.

    good start...

u might want to use more fluid lines... like making longer more confident strokes so it doesn't look so choppy...

i gotta draw 2day too... thx 4 the reminder...

    Thx for the crit.

Fellah - Im no good with hair yet, need to look into that area more! Point taken, and I agree. Yea more contrast in my pics! Lightning is so important!

cuzzo- Hmm ok, better line quality, point taken. But I need to draw a LOT more I think.

Oh yeah, the dude with the gun and the monster in the corner on the last drawing looks nice, would like to see a finished version. More blood on the head on a stick - hehe. And a little more darkness=p.

Suggestions on materials? Perhaps get darker pencils? ink? I have a smudgestick, improves the darkness a bit.

The page r12.jpg is good. More contrast, but you can make it even darker. Try some B2 pencils perhaps. I think you would improve alot if you did real quick studies of an area at a time... at least thats what Im trying to do. Good job and thanks for replying to my sketchbook!
