Thanks Mort Still working on anatomy, so I guess this is gonna be a progression this year, I better stick with it heh. Anyway, onwards - some coloured stuff:

Crazy coloured wolf done for someone about 2 weeks ago. It was fun. Freaky angle and anatomy though

Working on this, should update with a more progressed pic though, this is from about 2 weeks ago.

    Sketchy stuff coming laters!

welcome to the ssg, you've got some very impressive and convinging anatomy studies here, both human and animal, your pages of doodles are great fun to look at, lots of energy in them. your digital painting is great looking too, good understanding of color and lighting, thankd for the tips on the tank btw. I just gotta say I love the stargate horus helemt you have from a ways back in september. keep it up.

The painterly stuff is very lovely. Love the nature studies also.

The hogarth studies and the marker+ink arm studies are real nice too.

    The dobermann pics rock.

Thats just the cream for me, the rest is great to look at too - as the other guys have said.

Don't want to pump your ego up too much, but I really enjoyed looking thru your stuff.

On the last colored fox, watch the value scale. Try to squise you eyes together an look at the head. The dark fur on the underside need to be much lighter to convey the round form of the head. Other than that the reflective light is nice and the olors harmonize. Remember as i read somplace; color and value are the same. If the value is wrong the color cant fix it.

Also its good to have you on the team, looks like we are filled up now.

invinciblewombat: no problemo, glad I could help you out. Yeah, I have a bit of a thing for Stargate anything that can stick sci-fi with ancient Egypt gets my vote.
Dead Road 7: cheers dude, thanks gonna stop by your SB now before I forget.
    Apocalypse_Rex: thanks Rex, mucho appreciation.
Njord-E55: Ah, I see what you mean. It does look really flat. I'll play around with it and post an update later to see if I've got it better eh? Thank you

Okay, updating now Just sketches for now, will have some anatomical stuff up here later on.
Quick stuff, done over several breaks in lectures. Man do I need to work on humans + their faces:

The best drawing time there is, in and between lectures. Keep an eye on your horizontal lines, they need to be..... horizontal =). The rest is good sketches. And your faces are not as bad as you think. Just study the planes a bit, the shading is what make then look unnatural.

And a saw a little TROGDOR father up the thread. =)

mmm, freehand 2point veichel drawings, sexy looking, watch the straightness and the consistancy of linewight on it though (I sound like my teacher, thats all she ever crits ). The people are looking good as well, legs look a bit short on the full figure imo but I'm not entirely sure if they actually are.

heya's liking the pencil stuff here quite a bit, you wolves are great real characters, would love to see this translated more into your people, might just be me, but they feel very manaquin like.

would also love to see more of the contrast you have in the demon pic in your other colour pieces, its nice and strong

keep up the good work ^^

Njord-E55: Haha, you know it. Trogdor could beat Glaurung or Smaug anyday. Facial planes need more work, I know, I just can't figure out how to go about it

invinciblewombat: cheers. His legs are short little stubbins, maybe his warrior ancestors interbred too much, heh.

maxetormer: I remember you :p See you around then eh?

Monny: You're telling me, heh, I reckon their faces look more like someone's removed half their muscle structure. I'm gonna focus on that more, see what I can come up with.

Sorry about the delay, had some issues to contend with off the 'net. Can't find my ruddy sketchbook with most of the anatomy stuff in it, so here's some freestyling I did today. Blue pencilssss.

No refs, except the hand. boobies!

5 min sketch of the building I was sitting near, ick. some random dudes...

Njord-E55: I found my pdf of that Loomis book, so I'll start some studies with that now

Mort: I'm a girl, but thanks lol gonna practice some joints now!

I really like how your sketchbook pages just flow together like that first one, it seems like a sort of subconcious overall composition emerges and makes them really nice to look at, anatomy is looking pretty good for no ref you may want to watch the perpective on the building though, the walls look very 2 dimensional but the windows and doors converge on vanishing points.

    Very nice sketchbook!
Youre creatures, especially the wolves are the strongest in my opinion, its also nice to see that you try it all, humans, monsters,landscape....
Keep on practising and training more on faces, many of them look a little stiff and blocky.
    Keep on practising

nice work! your figures are improving!
on the muscly guy( latest) be careful with the muscles, just make sure they insert in the right place, and spend a bit more time on your hands! have fun with the studies you mentioned, they are always so helpful to do!

Some of the works posted here are really sweet (Some of the lions and dogs look really cool). Altough i would suggest more anatomy studies, u are doing good in that sector too.

Cheers and hope to see more updates soon.

invincible: hehe, that's what comes from not having a ruler at the time. I will do some more serious perspective stuff pretty soon.
Lazy: i think that was my biggest mistake ever, trying to draw animals before humans ("I was young, reckless..."). But yeah, I'll keep on practicing
Mort: i think its the size of her deltoids, they're a bit overlarge? that and the hard face :p
dead road 7: lol, i'll keep at it. thanks!
Ganbat-bad: coming from you that means a lot to me, wow
rodrigo: thanks rods i find my stuff always tends to look too stiff and static, so I will do some looser ones from now on as well eh?
t-raktor: oh, for sure. biggest mistake i made with anatomy was not starting sooner
apocalypse rex: thanks apoc, keep that skull of yours safe, you need it for drawing

Stuff has been busy the past few days. And where is my other damn sketchbook? Nrgh.
Alrighty, 2 more pages. Also started Loomis' Drawing the Head and Hands, we'll see how this goes :p And you can't go past Death, particularly if you're a Discworld wizard:

He has a bag on his head because his face was ugly :p Eeegh.

Great stuff you've got here and i admire you for taking the time to do those studies. Sometimes you tend to draw the eyes too high so you should always look for the center of the head for them. Love all the animal drawings aswell especially those bird ones. Will come back once you update. Thanks for visiting my thread.

Placeboast: Thanks I'm working more on faces now, so hopefully I can get the eyes looking better.
invinciblewombat: my goal of being able to draw heads properly has begun, heh.

I'm not dead (yet)! Assignments are incredibly draining, ergh. But here's some pages to make up for lost time:

First up - drunken drawings (no seriously, it was St Patrick's Day, and I'd had 2 schooners of Guinness and some Baileys). I spilt Guinness on the bottoms of the page so I cropped that part off, heh.

    Loomis heads!

    Practice:

    More practice (+ a griffin):

Holy crap anatomy studies (Hogarth) and some head constructions (Loomis):

    More Loomis heads!

    More to come, beeches!

Cool stuff, love your creatures/animals and your style!
My only crit is that you spend too much time drawing from photos and not enough drawing from life! Start observing and drawing the people and things around you more, go to the zoo and draw the living animals!
