    Subway Sketch Group - (04.24.05)

These are last sunday's sketches. Didn't do as many. was still recovering from a 2-week flu and didn't spend as much time as the last two weeks.

This little girl sat there in this pose for almost a half hour without figgeting or moving. Amazing.

These last two are from later in the week.

New session in just over 12 hours.
NYC people: You slackers!!!! Show up!!!!!

I enjoy your energy, keep drawing, as someone said earlier there is much vitality to your drawings I love the fact that most of them are from random people from the subway that is pretty cool. Keep'em coming

I should try to come by. Things are busy as hell these days. I have a show of oil paintings in Brooklyn running right now and other projects are sucking up my free time.

Also, lately my trains have been waaay too crowded to sketch. I don't know what's changed. Usually the trains get emptier as the weather gets nicer, since so many lucky folks go on vacation. Not me tho. I'll be there...

Sorry everryone for not updating this post with sketches from last month. I swear that this weekend i will force myself to scan them all in.

For those planning to come out this Sunday, PLEASE DO. It sucks drawing by my lonesome self. Much more fun with people. And since Jin can't come next Sunday, i'd be really happy if even one of you shows up.

buskerdog - Good luck with your show. I know what you mean about finding the time. Things have been pretty hectic for me the last two weeks. As far as crowds on the subway, the last two months we've been skipping the whole subway thing and spending all our time in the Park, sketching there.

codakromek - thanks for that enthusiastic reply. I look forward to you coming out one of these Sundays (hopefully on the 5th)

Mankoon - the sketches look hot. I love the small one of the woman's legs crossed in the top left corner of the page. What's preventing you from joining us at 1:30 on Sunday?

ashrumm - thanks dude. I swear more are on their way.

P.S. for those of you that do decide to show up on the 5th, please be patient with me, I've been running late the last few weeks. But i'm usually there between 1:30 and 2:00

Just so folks know, another guy and myself are going to be organizing these events to be held on saturday afternoons. I've kind of accepted that my sundays are lost to me, but my saturdays right now are free again. I'll be sure to keep folks posted on that as soon as it's all hashed out.

    New!!!!!!!!

weeeee - i fanally got my lazy ass to Scan a few pages from the last few months. The reason it took so lon is that it took me some time to train my ass to scan while i was off slacking. I got a bunch more recent ones in another sketchbook but i didnt scan them beacuse as you can see, by some of the scans, my scanner started to crap out on me.

Maybe i'll scan the rest after this weekend's session.

    so here goes nothing:

    Never Bone Alone

Great group activity <><> actually a great activity period <><> observing people as you have been doing is a terrific practice for anyone who is serious about becoming an artist!

I commend you on your efforts <> so many of us have times that could be used for drawing that we waste <> that is a shame <> you should always have some sort of sketching material with you to take advantage of these moments!

As always prolific, now for the others to share. Looks like the thing that was keeping me from commiting to anything ALL summer long will possibly happen next month, meaning I may very well be free enough to return in the Fall.

hey hey. I know this is kinda last minute notice, but because of a request from the only person that has been showing up religiously to the Subway Sketch Group (other then me), we're gonna meet up tomorrow, Saturday July 30th, at 1:30 at 1 Penn Plaza. Just moving to Saturday for this weekend only. Hope some of you can make it.

Very good stuff! Good studies You've got a got view for all these things...
Looks very "oldschool", I like that. Remembers me some pictures in old books from the 70s/80s

I'll be scanning what I drew sometime during the course of the week. I'm not the most accomplished of the group, but I'm working on changing that, and the only note worthy thing about my work is that I'm mighty proud of my gesture drawings.

I just wanted to take the time out to say, if you haven't shown up for one of the group sessions yet, then you're seriously missing out. It's encouraging for me to be interacting with a group of such skilled illustrators. I'm definetly going to make sure that I make as many of the sessions as my schedule will allow right now, and I will definetly make an effort to attend the Thursday S.O.I. events as well.
