Keep doing those studies! I see some Vanderpoel there.

My suggestion is to check on your negative shapes to make sure their accurate.

Dizon: waw, what a good surprise ! i'm ready sir
about the Vanderpoel: yes you're right, i neglected this useful checking tool (i didn't realized until you pointed it ! they are not symetric: bad point for me trying to get faster by neglecting the checking phase.

NoodeDoodle: thank you . Actually, i think my rendering are crappy(so i'm practicing primitives, secretly )

I really like a lot of your linework. The Sargent copy in post #100 is looking real nice as well. Eh, not much critique here. Keep drawing from life!

    Hey there Zou,

Loads and loads and loads of pencilwork! It said on your first page you're self taught, so it's a very nice thing to see so many varied studies. Anatomy, composition, value, all of it. You seem to be using the side of your pencil a lot, is that correct? And there also seems to be some Arabic? influence in your work now and then.
I like the Rembrandt self portrait and the sleeping man (acrylic?) in post 54. Those childrens' portraits are pretty good too.

Those portraits are definitely getting better. You've done Loomis studies on earlier pages, are you still using that? I can't see any leftovers of construction lines in your portraits anymore. Make sure you always keep in the back of your head what you've learned! No need to "follow instructions" precisely, but those are good guidelines. Nice job on the markings on those faces in your last post, seems tough.

I like all those sketches and characters, you can probably go much crazier on the concepts though. And don't hesitate to do a long study sometime!

I also saw some digital work earlier on, but not that much. Do you prefer traditional?

Keep it up! looking forward to your next update.

Hi. Nice set of pencil work! I just made a quick paintover of some of your heads here. I also feel the eyes are a bit big unless if that's the style you're doing.

    Later!

good studies! some of your non-ref'd stuff could use a bit more value contrast and variation in stroke direction with rendering, I see definite improvement though, keep up the hardwork!

Nice.It will also help you to make quick face studies.Indicating the planes and positioning of elements, make a lot of them fast and in some of them add details.Until you will feel like your hand is burning from speed.
It will make you make a lot of mistakes and solving them from sketch to sketch.
    Keep up

kingkostas:sometimes when i draw i want to forget a bit the studies i did to avoid stiff drawing, i think i succeded in forgetting them too much

paperX: more contrast = more pencil strokes (yes : i'm lazy ) no you're right, i'm always telling myself that. For the directions , i was told that the same directions add unity to a drawing: do u think it's lacking variety now ?

dizon: thanks for pointing those mistakes. yes i tried to make their eyes bigger, perhaps it make them too angelic for a punk guys.

Anthis: hi thanks for the comment. As i said to kingkostas, i tried to forget a bit of those studies but i'm still using basic things.
    the sleeping man is watercolor

the digital works are few because pencil and sketchbook are easier to carry than computer and wacom (but now, i bought a laptop , i think it will change)

Your figure and body studies are showing a real good grasp of the human form, and you seem to be able to sketch figures from a range of angles and stances.

    well done.

Great study of Vanderpoel! Try to keep in mind the perspective of the figures though. Always check your alignments.
