    Cow Ara's Sketchbook

Hi, I'm new. I study graphic design at Art Center and am interested in Illustration. Obviously I have a ways to go but that's why I'm here: to learn. I've been drawing seriously for about a year now. Please critique my work 'til death if you see fit. I'm open to all comments and concerns.

Sketch and watercolor experiment all drawn from life:

More recent ps painting and sketch below (all from imagination):

Anatomically incorrect (too narrow compared to ref):

Drawn from a small 1 inch photo ref:

    SP:

So..what do you think? I'll keep adding as I scan some more.

    Ara

It looks like you can already draw pretty well. I hope you get better. I don't believe the world is willing to do anything for me.

i think its just that you got tired on that last one. i know how it is when you are so focused on one part of a picture, that by the time you get to the rest its like, ugh.

    wow, really cool stuff Ara.

ur line works and shadings are great.
Ur hand and head studies are awsome.
The little comics u did are so intresting, inspiring.

the illustration u did with TV, how did u gave less power to the middle lcds( is it lcd?) in the cloud.
Ur sketches on Feb 18, both the woman, and the doodles looks great. The woman looks really solid.
Uve got really nice prespective in your studies.

Keep it up Ara. post more.

Hey there. I had a question for some of your work up above there, especially the one with all the charecters and faces. How do u get such clean lines with your pencil? Mine are messy and confusing... Btw great work as always. Sorry i cant crit much, all i can do is just give you comments

Heroic - Thank you! The way Lite Brite works is you have that black sheet of paper (you can see it in my image with the tv) with a dot pattern on it. To get the color you put in these little pegs that look like christmas tree lights into the dot pattern and make your image. Hope that made sense. So the inside of the cloud all i did was poke holes into the dot paper (instead of putting a colored peg in)

Wisdom cube - Thanks again ! I'll check up on your thread in a short while. To answer your question i use this:

a draftomatic .5 led pencil. or when i lose it (like i did now) i use just a regular mechanical pencil.

Here's the new image something different than the usual. a more conceptart-y image if you will!

inspired by insane visions sketchbook! soo talented!

nice start! Be careful at proportions - aspecially at that skull... Read the first chapter of loomis's book about the heads, and you will know a great deal about proportions... or joihn the SOFA and read all there is to read about skull proportions...
