Great start to your thread, bro. Looks like you're gonna have a nice healthy sketchbook thread if you keep this up. The watercolors are great but I really like the pencils. I'd like to see smoother tones in your pencil renders but their lookin' pretty darn nice. Looks like you've been keeping yourself busy! Loads of stuff here! Experiment while you can, bro! That's what free time is for! Keep it kickin'.

Awesome stuff, Main Loop. I'm most interested in your creature/beast sketches, keep those coming. I also need to learn how to render in your sketchy sort of style with all the lines going one way. Any advice?

well from some teacher i picked up that when you hatch in shadow the best way to do it is have the lines follow the direction of the light.. coupling that up with a sense of finding form through plane changes, BAM you got my style down..

Nice work! I really dig the chick in the helmet. The portraits all have retro flair, I don't know who your inspirations are but it's not a bad thing at all.

artkitty: thanks, i swipe a little from here and there, my biggest drawing influences i'd say are Loomis, C.D. Gibson and other pen and ink illustrators of the time, James Kei (and a lot of other AAU grads), and Joseph Clement Coll..

Secondly, I love your 10th image on your first post. Excellent piece. Your portrait of Fergi (spelling? Black Eyed Peas Girl..) is awesome, looks just like her.

You seem to be very diverse and talented in all the things you do, so keep posting!

Seriously enjoyed your life drawings and the bus sketches, really cool.

Saw your tutorial about gouache in the tutorial section and came across your sketchbook, great stuff, a lot of variety.
I'm going to try gouache too, I see you and Bojee doing great things with it but I hear it's difficult to control.

IanE - Thanks, i try to be diverse... i need to do more life drawing again... drawing from photos too much will screw you up..
buzzz3d - ehh its all in how you use it.. i tend to go thinner than most would recommend.. to me its like watercolor with options..

It was nice meeting you at the crawl, man. The sketches make a nice little time capsule. I'm impressed with how much you squeezed out.I'm partial to the brush pen drawings myself, the variation of line weight makes them look really fresh and spontaneous. The little color thumbs are looking tight too.

cburt - its definitely worth trying to get out to a sketchcrawl, i had a blast..
steak-tron - thanks, once you learn the methods to use, its not too hard.. as long as they stay still for a few minutes it's enough..
