I haven't read all of this thread, so I might have few repeats...
Hibernation
Mating rituals
Rite-of-passage ritual
Evolution
"The Queen"
Living Fortress
Lives in Bubble
OBESITY!!
Slavery
Giger-tribute
7 deadly sins (or several wrapped into 1 creature)
I'll start contributing to COW once my skillz are up to par.
Ancestors (Chose two previous COW winners, and determine a common ancestor they both evolved from - go back as far as needed)
Generalized (Like the first rodents which spawned bats, whales, and horses - something unique which is bound to change and spread into every niche)
Environmental Transistion (A water species evolved to deal with a drought, a herd species evolved to deal with an agressivly expanding forest, herbivores begetting a carnivore)
Motherly Love (Reproductive forms not using traditional eggs or live birth)
Metamorphosis (undergoes change from infancy to adulthood)
Sensation (Senses the environment with something other than sight, smell, sound, etc)
Good Eats (Domesticated creature raised for food)
Migration (Creature designed to travel long distances)
Tethered (Never moved more than a few feet from it's birthplace)
Tool Inspiration (Beavers make dams, birds weave nests, paper wasps make hives. What natural activity of your creature gives its sentient neightbors an idea for a new technology?)
The singing creature

Wow this list is getting long. Too long to remember what's been said and what hasn't. I thought of a few I wouldn't mind doing. Not sure if they've been mentioned or not. How about:
Rock creature (think of all the different rock formations there are)
Lava or Magma creature (something that lives far below the Earth's crust)
Splitting Creature (a creature that splits into two non-identical creatures when it reaches adulthood. basically a spin off of Jaleho's motherly love)
Extremely Dorky Ideas:
Hot Chick Machine Creatures (Still not humanoid, but must resemble females in someway: facial features, eyelashes, metal boobies, etc.)
Cutest Creatures in the Existence of Time (Soooo cute, they'll threaten your sexuality!)
Meanest Insect-Like Creatures (Creatures with exoskeletons!)
Mutant Mistakes (When science went wrong on experiments)
Hooves and Horns (Badass herbivores)
Wolf in Sheep's clothing...........not literal, but a creature which uses this concept.......
How about a creature used as a weapon??
how about:
Electrical creatures:
ones that use or create their own electrical currents to kill/stun prey...
Shape Shifting Creatures:
one that can take on two (not multiple forms) to disguise or hide from prey/predators.
Summoning Creature:
One that re-animates dead cells with an enzyme to do ...whatever it wants.
(ie. zombie-like effect.)
Speedy Creature:
one that can move at astonishing speeds. (w/o flight.)
Sound Creature:
One that emits a high pitched note, for mating, luring, stunning other creatures.
Stealthy Creature:
One that has amazing evasion/hunting skills.
Most of them start with the letter "S" I guess i just like that letter.![]()
tell me if you likey.

Extreme Wood Chopping
Manic depression manifested.
"It came from the shower/bathtub drain"
Extra-terrestial dung beetles.
Technology-eater.
Man-eater.
"Hey, this is no branch/twig!"
"not even a mother could love it"
flying/gliding mammals.
Hatebirds. (as opposed to lovebirds)
Messageboard troll.
We did the lava creature this week. How about an ice creature for next week?![]()
Ah hell....I proposed this at our local sketch jam on Saturday night:
Militant Mutant Jester
Have at it....

parasitic mammal
cephalopod with an exoskeleton
flying crustacean
balrog without wings (wonder if it can be done)
that's all I can think of now...
In memory of Napolean Dynamite, how about a Ligre?
He who asks is a fool for five minutes,

Haunter of Dreams
( Didn't sift through the suggestions above - apologies for any repetition... )
Dougbot and I did 'Haunter of Dreams' for a Thunderdome challenge. It's a pretty open-ended topic, so it'd be interesting to tackle a second time, and see other people's take on it. I'd also like to suggest throwing in an occasional open round just to mix things up a bit.
cthulhu creature
fleshgolem
mechanic beast
deformed human anatomy
mixture between several animals
tentacle thing
cocoon
Actually, how about just suggesting the name of a creature, and see how people interpret that? There have been some quite creative / humorous names for creatures conceived in the concept descriptions already. Might be an interesting change of pace and probably better than a completely open round...who knows quite what a Frizbongular Tappit, Cornswoggler, or Heaving Multrassian Fitch looks like?
In fact, why not fun it up a bit? Wouldn't some of our usernames make for interesting creatures? Just scrolling quickly back on this thread produces some interesting ones - Zaknafain, Salvadorcoran, Magicgoo and even Fozzybar () all suggest fun stuff in my head. So, I suggest...
Creature named after a ConceptArt.org member
' Shut up, Matt. ' OK, brain.
Here are my crappy thoughts..
-The non-human species that will replace homo-sapiens as the dominant presence on Earth
-The last species left in the universe before the last star goes dark....
-The first new species after the next big bang.....
-A creature that must annihilate matter for sustinence
-A creature that thrives at absolute zero.....
-A creature with multiple brains
-A creature that can only survive on massive magnetic fields
Sorry if they are a bit cheesy or cliche...
Matt Dixon
I like the idea with the fantasy names as a base for the open round...

Just some more ideas. Haven’t read the entire thread so if some of these ideas were already suggested, just ignore ‘em.
- Organic communication device
- Animals doomed for extention (i.e. "The Bubble Wrap Shelled Tortise of North America.") Never had a chance.![]()
- Grave digger for deceased mythological creatures
- Animal mascots from alien worlds
- Uncredited creatures that changed history
* And thanks for putting all your time and energy into this Fozzy! It's a great exercise and hope it becomes a mainstay of CA.
Reality Warping creature
flourescent forest or space creature
Creature used as a writing tool
What humans would look like after 120 million more years of evolution
Living clothing or furnature
Creature that serves as a home
All-Seeing Observer creature
The Super-Brain
Self-sufficient creature
The boogeyman
The Abominable snowman
Draw your own god or deity
Let everything on the picture represent something that the god stands for or represents
Im Arif
I see lots of fun ideas here, sometimes I like topics more specific and other times I like them more general, I think we should mix it up. Example, St.patrick's day just passed, what if the only suggestion was "green Creature", I think it would be alot of fun to scroll through a thread where all the creatures were totally different designs but all shared one visual attribute, in this case the color green.

Nice idea...i think we could do this...
btw what's a Ligre???![]()
GOSHHH....a Liger is a half lion, half tiger with magical powers.![]()
too damn funny....
[note: I see that I transposed my letters in "liger" to read as "ligre" in an earlier post...I just passed my hooked on phonics online course and am still leanring...er...learning how to type what I sound out]
cheers!
