Well here are my dreams: Gigantic, HUGE creatures roaming great, wide, grass plains...
I think it sounds awesome!
A child's imaginary creature
-Deijardon-
The Secret Old One: Creatures of great wisdom, hiding from the world, whispering to each other on the wind.
Big as a House, Gentle as a Lamb
Bi-headed Biped
Highrise Howlers: Complaints all over the city have been coming in about loud howls. That definitely isn't a pigeon on our windowsill, either.
Bred to Kill: Creatures specifically enhanced, bred and brought up as an army of killers.

Destroyers of Worlds
Personally, I just hope all these ideas are used someday.
Herbivore gone carnivore
Hive-creature.
so i read this article on wired.com
...and thought "what a cool challenge idea for COW!" design three synthetically created organisms, or "synthorgs", with 3 seperate military uses
espionage/intel
combat/defense
utility/functional
would love to see what results people would come up with!
What does not want to be seen...
Fur, scales, feathers
Sublime metallic dancer
Elegant patterned singer
Blind, deaf and mute hive queen
Horns made of crystal
The most expensive pet in the world
Oracle of the bird goddess
Fantastic bunnycorn
Creature that made Maya leave their cities
Twisted jaw ocean mammal
Predatory swimming mushroom
Species that have three genders instead of two.
All of these are giving me inspiration. when does this contest start and ho do I join?
Ideas:
If planets were creatures
Creatures that we used as weapons
Creatures that killed its discover
Animals that normally have hands/feet instead have tentacles
creatures that formed from a black hole
What is really in space
Creature that makes the earth orbit
creature from the core of the earth
Each contestant selects one of the previous winners on a first-come first-served basis, then designs three creatures from previous stages of its evolution. Possibly a 2-weeker.
And again I second the Biblical Beasts idea.

Something I use to do was to pick a random Bird (i.e. a Seagull), then look at its identifying features, such as plumage colour & pattern, feather formation, body/beak shape ect...
Then I would take these attributes and try create an entirely new and Non-Avian creature out of them, for example using a Seagull I might create a shark like creature with Black, White and Grey skin patterns, with large angular fins, a forked tail and a red bump on its face/snout.
This might be a hard topic, however it's something I use to do and developed a few interesting designs from.
this could be fun =)
a hive/insect colony caste system (or any other type of animal colony)
for example: in an ant hill you have the workers, soldiers, a queen and maybe a few other types (im no bio expert)
the actual creatures could be as big or small as you want, they just have to live in some kind of hive/tunnel system and have recognizable classes. you could even add your own kinds like guards or scouts
I don't know if it's been discussed or not yet, but perhaps it would be a gas if, for the topic of the week of the 2nd of April, we could do a little something to celebrate the Ultimate Creature Feature, CLASH OF THE TITANS
How about..
Release the Kraken! - Re imagine the mighty Kraken as a colossal prisoner of the gods, once a mighty Titan, now more savage and destructive than ever.
Mythology Remastered - Choose a great mythological figure (Greek only) and re-create it! Alternately, Greek or otherwise.

Just a few ideas:
Foggy Despair: a creature that darkens the very air around it, physically and emotionally
Recent Biped: a creature whose ancestors walked on four legs (or five, or six, or more...), and who only recently started walking on two
Unusual ornamentation: pretty self-explanatory...
Shadow seeker: a creature who camouflages well in shadows, and seeks them out
Sand Creature- used as a slave beast to help Egyptians build the pyramids.
Rare/Expensive Mineral Generator- A creature that is known for somehow creating a rare and expensive mineral from/on/in it's body.
Great and Giant Mane- A large creature with a proud, and extravagant mane that it shows off and is a reason it is respected, such as a lion.
How about any creature from the book of Revelation in the Bible, either:
1) Beast out of the Sea: Chapter 13
2) Beast out of the Earth: Chapter 13
3) The Dragon: Chapter 12
4) The Four Living Creatures: Chapter 4
5) The Locusts: Chapter 9
or any other creature you might find in that book

Here's some more idea's....
- Forest Harvester
- Big head no neck
- Natures cage fighter (a creature born to wrestle, box, sumo ect...)
- Backwards evolution, birds into dinosaurs (today's birds becoming tomorrows dinosaurs)
- Wheel/wheels instead of legs (creatures evolved with naturally produced wheels)
- Landfill creature (a creature evolved to live and feed upon our planets landfill sites)
- Internet lifeforms (whether in the internet itself, or relying on it to survive, these creatures have evolved in a digital age)
- "That's no Moon" (....no its a space monster)
- The dinner that eats you (its may looks like a tasty snack, however it is instead a deadly assassin waiting to strike)

I have been very impressed w/ all of the concepts, however I would like to see more variety and creativity as far as movement goes. I realize it's hard to get past the earthly run, hop, fly, and swim, with the legs, wings, tenticles, and fins, but if not a completely new body structure, I'd still like to see more variation in these preexisting movement structures.
