Your first drawing looks kinda like he was really big, then he shrunk a little, but his skin stayed the same size. Its looks more wrinkled than veiny or muscular. Not sure if thats where you were headed.
Armored fella- mixed feelings....just draw more from life. Its the one ting you'll hear most often, but there's a reason you'll hear it so often.
This Gunner fella though, there's something neat going on for me. I don't know exactly where you were going with it, but I think that whatever you were going for, its worth your time to pursue it further. Perhaps you're more of a colorist than a draftsperson? Either way, as you hone both your drawing skills and your eye for color, they will feed each other. Just stay dilligent, and keep drawing. Its in your reach to make art you never thought you could, but you hafta DO IT! Keep at it!

yeah, I know... I need both painting and drawing skills still, going to take painting I and life drawing I down at the local JC this spring. Thanks for the comments!
Hey dude, it's Willy, I met you at sf workshop.
I like the gunman and how loose and free you're being with the strokes, esp on the gun.
Hope you have fun at those classes!
Regarding "Angelic".
Whenever drawing armoured, or draped figures, never forget what's below it. Its a human being, or a creature, what does it look like naked? What does it look like as a skeletal structure? When you get the frame done before you add the armour it'll look better....which is basically what McLean suggests...draw more from life. The idea and the rendering are pretty cool though. **Thumbs up**

I seem to be a large fan of this HUGE UPDATE HI thing.... sorry for the lack of pics... scanner was duuun.
I would like to stress that these are in NO CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER whatsoever.....
and also that the creatures are greatly inspired by cartoonfox.
and also that the characters are greatly inspired by prostate sunrise.
I do not compare to their greatness.

i'm liking the loose/sketchy feel of those on the last post.
and something interesting going on with the color guy with the gun. i agree with McLean that you'd pursue it further.
i'd suggest u study anatomy and proportions, as people already said that. keep up good work
and thanks for dropping by my stuff, by the way![]()

I'm not going to crit you on the anatomical issues, as they have been pointed out already. I think you would benifit from loosening up a little bit when your sketching. Just let your lines flow more. When you get your pose down, you can refine it. Also, if you make mistake, leave the line there! Correct it first, then remove the line that was wrong.
Your drawings show a lot of energy! I like that! Your creatures are cool! I'd like to see some of 'em rendered out a little bit more, like the first ones you posted!![]()
The tech-guy with the naginata kicks ass! Do a colorversion of him! Also, (like everyone elsse has said) the colored gunner-guy shows a lot of promise! Take him further!
Now draw, man! I'm watching!

hey panda, cool stuff. glad i could be of some inspiration to you
anyway, one thing you could do is try being a bit lesh 'harsh' or hard with the pencil. what pencil are you using?
try making your lines more controlled and loose, if that makes sense ^-^
blah im useless at giving crits ^-^
oh, another thing to do for the creatures, is look at animals, in books, look at them at zoo's and musuems (those complete skeletons of animals are so cool), to see how real animals are proportioned and shaped. its also great inspiration
anyway, just keep at it, draw a good few hours each day (or atleast one page in your sketchbook if your busy) and you'll see improvements in no time.

hum. creatures inspired by the foxxx......
figures inspired by prostate sunrise...
the last three were done in class.
crits please! I need to get better!
I can't wait for guild wars to come out.

oh, almost forgot.
fox: thanks for your crits, they mean a lot. I always use 2b either mech. 0.5 or just a graphite stick.
dcept: thanks! I hope to keep you interested enough to keep critiquing!
ender: yeah, no problem... i really like your stuff too.
I like the lifedrawing of the bald guy! Would've liked to see a bit more contrast, though..
Your creatures kick ass as usual! They're very cthulhu-ish. I should do some critters as well.. Just to let my imagination roam a bit
About your humans, their chests seem a bit large compared to the rest of their anatomy.. The arms are too thin.. Also your lower arms are a bit big compared to the upper arms. Popeye effect..heh...
I'm watching, so keep 'em coming!

GReat work, man.
But your colourwork - it is so good - why do we only see so little of it?
Well, to tell you the truth, I'm just fucking lazy. I'm too lazy to fire up photoshop to color stuff.... or paint stuff for that matter.
here's some black and white's to taunt you.
yes, the arms are screwed up in the first one. -ballpoint, then pencil.

I seem to enjoy making these rather large updates.
Here's a megaton of anatomy sketches I did in the last two or three days. more actual concepts to come later today.
All of these done with 2b mech. pencil. 0.5 mm lead - 30 minutes each, give or take.

Nice update! The anatomy stuff is looking good! Bit of a small thumb on this guy: link
Your concepts are looking a bit flat.. Might be that you use the lines too heavy. And I think there is a lack of highlights there. Other than that, they're cool!
Keep it up! Your progressing all the time!

I'm glad you updated, don't worry about no once responding it'll come in time.
Ok here's some critiques. I know your studying anatomy, but your still making some mistakes in noticeable areas. Remember the stuff that you learn from anatomy you have to use in your drawings. On these new updates it looks like your giving them weird muscle structure that shouldn't bend like that or shouldn't have that many mass. Remember to work on the underlay art first before rendering (something I still have to work on, don't want to make my mistake). Don't forget to use reference if you don't know how the arms are twisted when put in a certain position. There should be tons on the net, if not use yourself, of your anatomy book which has picture of muscle layers, all you have to do is expand them if you want them to be shown. Think of the muscle like this, if you lay a towel on top of a chair it becomes the chair, you can see the curves and the way it flows down. If I'm not making any sense then it's probably cause I might not know what I'm talking about half the time....Well keep at it, you'll get a response in time.

Some doodles, some archmage.
I REALLY REALLY REALLY need critique, I'm having trouble translating life drawing skills to drawing from my imagination.
![]()
If your having trouble with translating it from your mind to paper, then use reference, that's what I'm doing now, alot of artist use reference to help them out, either it be a mirror or from a photo. If you got friends use them, tell them to get in a pose that you want and do a rough sketch, make sure you get the proportions right. Well hope that helps and keep at it buddy!

man you seem to have a great inate vision there mate .
your imagiontion is great i reallyliek your creatures too.
the humans look like you need more practice im shrue the life drawing will help that .
if your haveing a problum translateing from life drawing to imatgionation drawing its problably becuase you are using a slightly diffrent method<or thinking > for imagionation and life .often times when doing it from life we see the contour we have all the light and such in place so the forms are defind for us so we use that to reach the drawing. when doing it from the mind only i think its really nessary to construct it from the bottem up <later you dont need to do as much construction on paper but you still construct it in your mind>so you can make the forms <simple shapes > and thier interaction so we can be able to decide how the light will look ,to arrive at the drawing. my suggestion would be to go back to basics for a bit . simple shapes cube cilender sphere and the like . nail those down and rember perportion and you should be able to apply your vision in a way that will make you much happyer .
all that and jsut keep going man i really liek waht you doing jsut make shrue to do it eveyr day so all your gains in skill and knoledge can compound and stay with ya .

After the anatomy studies it looks like you have gotten a bit better. I really like your use of lighting as far as those in color, from the beginning. The last couple are very good. Keep up the good work.

Hey dude, long time no see, lol
I've been wanting to say it for a while (but was too lazy) but the horned face you painted in your March 13th update is awesome!
Your recent update is great too, I really like the colors in your cliff staircase. Overall it looks like you are improving by leaps and bounds!
