Ok, so I've started painting. These first few pics are studies I did on tracing paper. Tracing paper is a great surface to practice on. It's cheap, the oil paint doesn't soak through, and it's a really nice, smooth surface.
These were 20 min to an hour each.

edit: with the tracing paper, did you stretch it onto some sort of board or something? or is it just on a pad of tracing paper? - and did you prime them with gesso? thanks

Here is the apple in progress. It's actually a different apple from the one in the study, so that's why the shape is different. I can't remember if this is after the 1st or 2nd session.

Really nice renderings. I'm not sure if I like the 'rubbed-out' effect you have going for the darker shaded parts of your portraits

Love the paintings. You are really starting to take flight, can't wait for more! I remember you mentioned though that you would be doing a few cast drawings at some point.. are you still planning on those exercises?
