Holycow. You start off nicely, and end up with such excellent pictures
THe Tenniscourt-temple combo is hylarious. THe river running through the rocks could be a post apocalyptic paradise in the future, the cow could be a moment of calmness in a horror movie, and finally the pigeon with the iron bars looking at the sea could be an excellent prison escape movie still.

photography is all about location imho, i mean, the pumpkin compositions are an interesting start, but the rest is a whole different ballgame. Keep it up!

I must say those are very pleasing images. By a couple of bucks camera are you referring to a holga. Or just not a professional camera. If you don't have a lot of money and want to try something new. Go to a camera shop and ask for a holga. Will reguire medium format film, but it's plastic and only costs $20. Definently have the sales person give you some pointers. It does require a certain amount of light. But it's lots of fun. Check out the internet if you really get into it for some pointers. Good Luck!

There are too good! That first post rocks. So is the shot of that canal. I agree with the people on the frames though, hehe. The blue one kills me!

    Cool pics, man.

these are pretty nice quality for a couple of bucks camera, there was this famous photographer once that proved its not the camera but the guy behind it, some people gave him a really dodgy camera and told him to prove you can take a good picture with it, he came back with one of the best pictures he had ever produced

Beautiful photos! The cow was by far my favorite one. You have a knack for composition.

Where was that last one taken?

not to be mean, but are you kidding? the Cow is just in the direct centre of the picture!!!

there are some nice pictures in here, like the hand holding the flower (also really like that frame), the old lady (nun?), and the guardians picture, but i wouldnt count the cow among the better pictures, nor a picture with good composition.

It may be simple, but I liked it. Sometimes simple is best. I think the main reason why I liked it so much is the contrast between the green and the drab sky. When I said 'composition', I meant overall, not the cow in particular.

Its not that i didnt like the photo of the cow, i was just in a bad mood i guess when i read that and was criticising the persons comment, not your work (but it was just mean criticism so i should have refrained)

i do like the cropped version of the cow better - the widescreen ish look makes photos feel more grand or epic IMO

It's ok, Shade. Most of the time I deserve a good kick for not being more observant. But, I still like the photo.

besides, honesty is the best policy.

Icey, I like the last two. The first one, I didn't at first. I don't really know why, maybe because it is an unorthodox view of the subject, but the more I looked at it, the more I appreciated the photo. Probably because it's different, is why I like it. How would it look if you softened the lines in the middle section?

I like the last one. I think it would be better with more of that lovely old fence showing. To contrast the modern and the old, and to give the picture more depth. Also to give more balance to the composition. Also the light was dull - the picture could do with a small bit of levels adjustment in photoshop.

great thread! the canal shot is by far my favourite, though i like the photo of the stadium with the ancient temple in the background as well - it's a little more of a snapshot, but i really like the contrast of the two topics. and your last photo has a lovely mood, sums up summertime in one shot, i think. hope you post more often than every 6 months, would love to see more.

i really really like that last one. i think its the colours and well, just all of it, it looks great! the first one there is cool but kinda lacks some... depth? and the middle one is nice, but ive seen sooooo many photos of the tower before that it hasnt got much impact on me. nice shots tho!
