53 pages of ladies and buildings (update: now with more ladies)

Hey all. I'm back again with another sketchdump.

This one is in celebration of a new page. My brother tom and I finally got around to making a co-site, and here it is:

    http://www.rhodesbros.com

    now, on with the show

    - a portrait of my friend kelly on halloween

17 - which bleeds into some red monika drawings

    18

19 - couple more from wizard of oz (not the walrus)

20 - some character ideas tom came up with

I must say that your work is absolutely stunning.

I study architecture myself and it has been a long time since I haven't seen something that genuinely creative. Your knowledge of space and structures is truly impressive.

I still miss however more contrasts in your drawings...

    Please keep posting.
    Just DO IT damnit !

Mmmmm yum yum, I'm a big fan of this simplistic method and use it as well wheenever i can. GIRLS WITH BIG HATS! MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY! That's my next theme anyways. My favorite was the bottom of image 6. The top of image 50 reminds me of Outland.

    Tah Tah , myeees!

Wow and hes from calgary Join the club.

Excellent stuff, Isric. There's so much stuff to comment on. As always, your characters are just great, but it's nice to see some environments from you. They are really top-notch as well. I think that walrus might just be the coolest character ever. Did you make him up? Will we see more of him?

hello, i must tell you that i am absolutly inspired by your sketches.
so much variety is admirable. i really cant critique anything i see here now, sorry. I can only watch and learn from you.

However, it might be a bit off-topic, but i think your website is hard to navigate and there are a few bad links. Ill leave it at that for now, unless you want my website critics and suggestions, i'd be glad to give them to you...

anyways, keep on posting, this is one thread im definatly watching out for!

    Hi Isric

Just wanted to step by and say how immensly I enjoyed this thread. Beyond the good ideas for your characters and the different environments I personally like most the variety of expression you get into your faces. They really inspired me to work more in this direction.

Very nice work and keep on posting

Love your characters, those interactions inbetween, the expressions...
and the typical style of the faces.

Although i see some eraser work in some of the sketches, i am happy to see this, the cleaness is awesome.

    and the enviromental stuff

I think i can´t critizise anything for good reason...
well i don´t know if you just show sketches or if you a not focusing coloring yet... if not this would be the next step...

    MORE please!

    Once again, lovely work!

Matt you are something. The characters are amazing and then you throw in that simple bunny on page 9 (?)

The Oz stuff feels the way I would imagine Phillip Pullman's "Dark Materials" series to look...

Congrats on the site. It's so swamped I haven't had the chance to check it out yet.

Hunger Artist - thanks man, glad to hear you think these are improving.

Ustabiaz - wow, that's an amazing compliment. thank you very much

    most667 - thanks man

meDrawUC - thanks. are you in calgary?

Quick Sketch - sometimes I just make them up, but often i'll flip through classic architecture stuff for inspiration

    thirdeye - danka!

Chromatic Codex - appreciated, thank you

Bishop Six - haha, thanks man. and yeah, the walrus is all mine (as far as I know). he came out because of too little sleep.

Steph - the feedback on the website is appreciated. I'll keep that in mind as we make changes.

    Inkfish - merci!

Muffinman - hopefully you'll get more

    cataeic - thanks!

southerncomfort - you are as kind to me as your namesake is unkind to my throat.

egerie - thanks man, i appreciate that. it's good to hear you haven't been running in circles

Fipse - wow, that's awesome. thanks a ton

bryan - thanks, and I'll definitely try

Xaya - yeah, i bought an electric eraser that i use on my graphite stuff. it's really fun to use. as far as color stuff goes, i'd love to post some, but whenever I do color it's always for work, and I can't show any of that stuff. thanks for the comments though

MrKL - sweet, thanks a lot

Interceptor - wow, that's amazing. thanks for saying so

    AmishCommy - cool, thanks

NeedleHeadPuppet - oooh, workshop eh? I don't know. at the moment I don't know what I could say, as I'm still trying to figure all of this out. Maybe after graduation i'll have things sorted out more and will be able to. In the meantime my advice would be: don't be afraid of who people are. stereotype people, learn to read them, put them in boxes and categories, and you'll find they suprise you and teach you a lot about expression...i don't, uh....know if that helps....

remedial - oh awesome, i should do that too. thanks
