Ok, I found out that it doesn't make sense to wait with my sketchbook thread here until I'm "good enough for not being embarassed because of my not-so-professional work".. So here it is! I'm 20 now [1985], and started drawing daily on the 1st of january 2004.

Be part of my journey through anatomy, color-theory, composition, story-telling, character design, landscapes, machinery and whatnot! I'll be drawing & painting (digital as well as traditional), maybe doing some aerosol stuff, t-shirt designs for fun and whatever else comes to my mind..!

Since I've drawn for some months now, I'll post a few pieces of each of the last months. I'm going to sum up 10 months of daily drawing for you, I try my best to keep the amount of images low.. Ah and I give a number to every drawing/painting created, which makes it easyier for you to critisize & comment.

    So, here we go!

    Phuu.
Sorry for this shitload of images, I hope you can see a bit of progress in it.
Comments & Criticism are highly appreciated. Seeing my work with your eyes will help me growing. From now on I'll regularly updating this thread. I don't know yet If I should post everything and post daily, or just several selected pieces from time to time. What do you think?

I hope there will come some life to this thread, and some people have a look into it, even though I absolutely can't mesure with the big boys [insane visions, el coro, steak-tron, ..., ...]

Last thursday my first life drawing course started! I really enjoyed it! Here are the pages from this evening: [scanning A2 pages sucks..]

    21st of October 2004
the task was to keep the pencil moving, feel the 3dimensional mass of the model. proportions were not important at this stage. just try to feel it and keep the pencil moving

    21st of October 2004
now we could try to just draw the model, no special task
this is the first time I draw a whole body..
legs on the left one are waaay too short

    21st of October 2004
    last one. a bit better..?

madolaine: dunno if my nose there is so very correct, but I'm glad if I could help!

    23rd of October 2004
my copic marker ran out of ink, which created some interesting effects

    24th of October 2004
while drawing the left one I was looking at one of rich/insanevisions' breathtakin drawings..

    25th of October 2004
well, looked at insanevision stuff last night and drew this one today. never drawn monsters like this but it turned out ok :] The text in the back is from salman rushdie's "haroun and the sea of storys", great book btw!

    25th of October 2004
also today, black pen and some white gel pen on red paper. original looks better than on the screen though..

c/c appreciated! has anyone wishes or inputs concerning my subjects and/or technique?
I'll draw daily and post every drawing/number from now on. Gives me some motivation I think. Really sucky pieces are stored but don't get a number and don't get scanned.

    xaya: thanks!
    darkside: yes sir!
MisterJ: Thank you. I can spot anatomical and some perspective-related errors in your heads, maybe get your hands on anatomy books [maybe e-books will do, if you got no cash: http://www.fineart.sk] - try to understand what's beneath the skin, remember: form follows funktion! with this in mind while drawing, you'll notice errors much easier!
Pichuerca: these first drawings suck but it was the first time I drew the human body. got a figure drawing class each thursday now and I'm really enjoying it!! the teacher [peter schneebeli] said he wants to get colors involved in a few weeks, too. lookin forward to this!

    26th of October 2004
oh my, that's hard. gotta do a few more of these fellas to get the data stored in my mind :]

heh.. was drinking tea and doodling, when I had the wonderful idea to take a tea bag I'd just used before, squeeze it into a small vessel [don't know if that's the right word..] and then use a brush to apply the tea-colored water on the drawing :]
for the next layer of color I added a bit of ink to the mix and repeated the process. looks nice to me, must do more stuff like that!

for those who're looking at my stuff: dont be shy! c&c is more than welcome!

this is also a good way to work on my rather weak pencil rendering technique, I think. tried to add more (dark) tones

hah, have you numbered all the drawings youve ever done? is that where the 680...etc comes from? anyway, lookin good dude. some studies wouldn't hurt you, but you're doing well with the digital stuff. see you in sf, yo.
