THis painting started out as a pencil sketch and was rendered in Photoshop 7.
The sketch kicked around until I saw a piece by Neville Page which inspired me to finish it. The Neville Page shark can be seen on his gallery at the Gnomon workshop.

Nice, not the typical smeary mess.(painter) Very clean and very well done!
My only Crit would be adding something to the background/foreground.
Haha very nice! No crits from me. Looks really good, really rendered well.

Cool painting man!The rippling light on the sharks back kind of bugs me though , and I think you could have exaggerated the sharks mouth alot more.I love the little fish dude too!
You are a level 8 ninja and even though you have a lot of weapons sometimes your ninja moves are your most powerful.
ah...Josh why do you always reply on toon-threads before me?
This is really awesome!!!
crits:
- the light reflections on the sharks body are done a little bit hasty in my eyes...try to get a more organic look to them, smoother and they need a different color, something yellowish or if you want to keep the cholor-scheme something more blue/cyan...
- i am not sure, but i think the light rays should either go parallely or have the sunlight as source, so they would come from one point above and disperse at the bottom (ah my stupid english)...just the other way round you did...
- give the shark some scratches, he will look more evil/bad...
Really nice image!![]()
Thanks Fozzy! You and silvertone are dead right about the ripples on the sharks back. They were the element I was least satisfied with. I'm going to have to practice those some more. The light rays are following the lighting of the scene, i.e from above, behind and to the right of the viewer. It's also how my reference image looked![]()
I didn't really want the shark to look evil as such, just dangerous. Maybe scars would have helped?
Thanks again!
Awesome piece!
Sjajno!

. the emotion is correct as well,
