I'm hopping on to the i lova ArtistArticle14308.jpg bandwagon, it's bloody awesome. There really isn't so much to crit on that, but you might want to check out the ellipse in the wheel, it's kinda skewed unless you wanted it that way.

The old pages you scanned look good too but i think you have really improved since then

Btw, how would you feel about participating in a weekly activity inside our ssg? Staylor made a post about it in our Forums in Conceptart.org 3.0 group forums. Check it out and leave your opinion.

    Cheers
    Antti

Nice life stuff as usual! I reckon you should start sketching people sitting on the train instead of from your head, its mad fun if you havent tried it And you should definently write an anatomy book when your older, it would be the best anatomy book evaar.

Nice update. I really like the first figure. Your concept faces are looking better. But you still need some practice on the eyes. On the last post the girl on the right looks a little weird in the sense that her eye look equally leveled and flat.
Her left eye is good but the her right doesnt follow the edge of the face as it should. Just a couple tweeks and studies you could do. Your linework is aestheticly hot as usual.

    Love the new stuff.

I feel kinda wierd critting sketches, I mean there is the occaisional issue but nothing is really sticking out in particular. And sketches are supposed to be all rough and crappy. Usually I just look for problems that keep reoccuring, and I don't really see any now (this is a good thing!).

Anyways if you'd prefer more in depth crits tell me and I'll start doing that.
    But yeah, cool new stuff

Good work man!! thrutly inspirational, I got a critic tho
I belive you could use some more line sensitivity on some of
you images, specialy on the lited areas of your drawings,
I fell that some times you outline your drawings to hard,

    http://www.renderosity.com/photos/Ar...ticle14395.jpg

even tho the shading is superb imo if you had used less pressure
on the lited areas of the face she would have turned out
more soft and relaxed looking at least face wise, instead of
the out line try making boundaries with value, and since that one
has such big range, I think the heavy line work hurts it a bit.
Well thats all for now, take my advise with a ton of salt, cause
honestly i fell you kinda kick my ass still I felt like saying this,
keep the work UP your are one heck of an inspiration bro!!

Really nice update, Rodrigo! Its a pleasure to look at those life drawings and studies! Furthermore its nice to see how it all comes down in the end when you work from imagination. Word up! I like the eye studies and the studies you made around the art school! Btw, how long is a "long pose"?

nice train sketches man! Those are some awesome eye studies, and you can really see that its payed off in those imagination sketches of yours. One thing you should keep in mind though is the eyebrow, you seem to draw them very thin and sometimes bent in unatural shapes. I see your getting into more and more andvanced anatomy studies, very inspiring stuff!

those long poses are really really good, rod. Definitely showing your abilities when you nail the long ones. I'd suggest though that in the first one, there's the odd hard edge that's bothering me. The shoulder on our right (well, the trapezoid) is kinda hard, and needs to be softened.

I'd recommend either softening that line and shading it away somewhat or getting a bit more into rendering the background to place the figure in space. This helps with values as well, and creates a better sense of unity often.

Excellent work though, keep it up dude.

wonderful wonderful wonderful update. those two full body life drawings are exquisitly juiced up. I can really feel the texture of their skin and the contour definiton is very strong and angular, it reminds me of egon schiele. great sight my brotha! how big are those drawings btw? I'm glad your studying the eye, something I should try out soon. and I really like the conceptual stuff. that bag on the dudes head looks sick. keep goin and goin...we're like energizer bunnies.

Love the latest stuff. The heart eyes are nice and creepy and the anatomy studies are awesome.

Where are you studying the anatomy from? Is it all from one book or are you getting stuff from multiple sources?

I was just reading above .. and saw what artguy said .. I agree with him and I think it gives a nice little twist to the realism. Matt Rhodes (another personal like) does the same .. and its amazing .. it exaggerates the expression .. doubling the emotion .. very good ..
    very good indeed ..

    yay, lots of new goodies!

I like all the anatomy stuff you do, it's kinda hard to crit, since you are miles ahead of me in that department, but it looks really solid. The sb look good too, but i think it could use some darker shadows in the left side of the face and some more planes on the forehead.

The eye studies are great, did you do them from life?

Ha! Great updates! After seeing that first SP I was gonna say, yea, planar studies are a must for you! But looks like you beat me to it! Way to go, Rod. You're really bustin' some quality stuff out in here. Can't wait to see how much you grow in art school. You're gonna be the next Massive Black intern if you can get your ass out of Australlia! Keep it up, mate!

Your mind must be like one giant book of anatomy. I want to see inside :p

Just wondering, how long does it usually take you to do a single sketch? Fantabulous work, as usual.

hey all, i know its been a while since my last post, i guess ive spent the time since struggling to complete anything. mainly working on self portraits- usually i give up on the drawing after a few days in, if its not working i make a clean start.
its just killing me because im not going anywhere, and i have to get stuff done in 2 weeks for an ehxibition.
    ugh, so hard
these are the only few things i could be bothered scanning,
    just 2 long poses-

    5 minute gesture

tensai- thanks man, i appreciate it.

young paddy1- thanks a lot mate!

    max-thanks a lot man

pierre-4 hours roughly, maybe a little less/more, depends on length of breaks, etc.thanks

    jaimie 13- lol thanksmate

    dirty_c-thanks as always

Orozc0-thanks so much man, youre too kind

staylor-cheers man! multiple sources, goldfinger, bammes, etc.
    DieOxin-thanks. matt rhodes kicks ass.

Inkfish-thanks man! ill see if i can work on that more! cheers. the eye studies were from life.

Form-cheers. i wouldnt mind seeing archie's and the doug maran prize next month. take it easy

thanks zeb, you speak of australia as if its a bad place to live. you suck! thanks man, although i dont agree about the massive black thing, they would spit on my work

thanks iornula- it depends on how lazy i am, maybe 1-3 hours i dunno lol.
