Okay, you now what, start by studying proportions even before thinking to study anatomy. Drawing from the mind is useless if you don't apply some past knowledge. It's a way to learn from your mistakes (I over simplifie the face, I draw my legs too long, I don't respect the bigger form etc.).
Egets: I like the face of your bitch. Cuz that's what you drew, right? It's a nice lovely bitch, right? Right?
yes, YES YEEESSSSSS U SATANIC HIPPY FOOL !!!!!!
look I dont know why I love you I just do

I can't draw out of my head to save my life. So I figured I'd give it a shot anyhow. Suggestions?

One more for the road.

This is my version of figure drawing from the mind. I'm mostly self taught......I've only been attending school for about a year.

Okay so here's some girl I drew from scratch. I don't really feel like I should say much since there's so many amazing artists here. But I know there's something not quite right with her. I especially know the face is off (maybe cause of the nose). Anyway, advice is very much appreciated. I'd comment on other people's work, but I'm unqualified. There's some very amazing stuff here!

I'm kind of suprised to see that it's predominately females that's been pictured.
I can see how the smooth shapes and litheness can be fun to draw. But it's esier to gain an understanding of muscles and anatomy from males since thier muscles are more visible. In my opinion

Tought to post this in here. Now that I look at it there's bunch of problems with the chest area and right hand but I still like how it turned out.

Nice dynamic aliens. But I think we should stick with human anatomy for now.

I thought I would contribute to this thread. Some great stuff! I bought a new charcoal pencil (woodless) and I started doodling. Its a study for a painting. Hope you like it...

looks very good so far, josef. please also upload the finished drawing.
Josef,
Really nice well constructed figure. Especially cool if it's a figure invention. The figure has a nice turn and flow to it.
Looking forward to your progress on this piece.
Thanks Arne, AztcFireFlower. I still deciding what to do with the legs and feet. I did several thumbnails for it. I will post it when I integrate it to the body.

Hey Josef,
Since you may still be solving the lower body, I was curious as to what the theme of your painting is? I kinda like the S shape of the gesture with the legs as drawn.
I see the figure as a supernatural being, an angel unwrapping his wings as he's about to let go and take flight. I also feel like he's anticipating an encounter or waiting expectantly for an important moment. Of course everything I say could be completely out of context, because there is no environment, yet. Just, really like the feeling and movement to your drawing.
Hey AztcFireFlower,
You were not far from your explanation. This is a study for a painting I am planning to do on the fall of Icarus. The camera is above looking down as he falls into the sea. So far I did several variations of the feet and these 2 were the ones picked. Which ones do like best?

beautiful lines & flow!
To be honest: I think neihter of them is the very best you can do. On the first one the feet are ending on the same horizontal height, destroying the vitality.
On the second one, it feels to me as if the feel for mass in space has been lost. Which is strange since foreshortening usually strengthens the effect, no..?Maybe it's due to some of the old lines left on the upper leg and can be fixed?
The dent in the upper part of the paper indicates that these two are on the very same sheet of paper, which might limit your freedom a bit, since you probably dont want to mess it upYou could transfer the drawing on a couple more sheets and then experiment?
Drop me a pm or post in here when you're finished please! Or create a making of thread!
I hope you're not annoyed by these lines, your drawing looks like you pretty much know what you're doing and I'm still at the very beginning. I think it's better to write some lines that the person might already know about than to assume everything is clear already and risking that the critique doesn't help at all
Sorry, no drawing from me.. didn't want this to keep me from sharing my thoughts about this good drawing
