Hey guys! Thanks for all the nice replies.. Just making my monthly pit stop again hehe. I got a little sketchbook that I've been sporting around and I've just been drawing whatever comes across as interesting or that I want to make up at the moment. I'm sorry that I dont hang out as much as I used to, I feel like I take things a little too seriously sometimes artwise and that makes me choke up and not enjoy what I'm doing.. which is ultimately futile and frustrating. I've been trying to come at this with a new attitude of not trying to force things or make things happen per se but just going with whatever I get into at any particular moment. It might sound silly but I feel more open minded to everything, especially technique, if I dont make technique a high priority but rather let it be a means of expression. Anyways heres a bunch of stuff from the last month..

Hey Mike! Some beautiful studies here. I always did like your pencil shading style, and it's nice to see your new work.
I can totally relate to the 'taking art too seriously' thing. And believe me, you want to make sure to enjoy what you're doing, and not let it be a burden.![]()
Keep up the good work, it's fun to see your progress!
Cheers,
~Rebecca

Hey Mike.
It's obviously been a while since I've been in here. Some great studies man. I particularly love the little aboriginal looking guy from a couple weeks ago. I can see some of the Marko and Wes influence showing through in some of the recent designs, but you are definitely making it your own. Keep updating!
Nice work. I'd say the lady in the dress has some proportion problems between her chest and arms though.

bdfoster - Hey thanks dude! Yeah I'm really guilty of admiring those guysI'm not really *trying* to cop their style though, just sort of happens that way.
#6 - Thanks man. Yeah those arms do seem a little off :/ Thanks.
I've been sketching a whole lot from life and refs for the past couple weeks. Trying to build up the vocabulary. Its definitely helped me loosen up a lot and get things down quickly. This is the better half of that stuff..

Hi Mike,
Wow, I'm really liking your life studies! Those are looking great, the loose linework is really shaping up beautifully!
