Look at the very darkest shadows of your ref and the very brightest highlights. To me it looks like your range of values aren't as wide as the range in your ref which is making your painting look a little flat. Adding the highlight detail to the eye might help to give some life into your painting too. Looks good though

You've missed the thing about Cumberbatch's mouth that makes him instantly recognizable: the pointy indentation in the middle of his upper lip (I'm sure there's a name for that) is at a deep and extreme angle. His underlip is at a harder angle, too. For reasons I can't quite explain, I find this man's face incredibly disturbing. I like your drawing, though -- don't paint out those little flicks of line in his hair; they're interesting.
I was once on the receiving end of a critique so savagely nasty, I marched straight out of class to the office and changed my major (sketchbook).
