Everything is looking so awesome so far

@spellsword I love that lighting, good stuff dude.

Here I have some quick thumbs, trying to move away from my initial thought of a hulking titan. Which brings me to my question, are we allowed to add extra limbs?

Update: Heres what i've been working on thus far.

Well if you have decided upon the figure, you now need to design the character. Not sure if that is what you are asking for. There really isn't to go from right now to give you a solid critique. Also, if the crosses are things that he collects, bear in mind, that the "trophies" should probably be something that every person would have. Not everyone would be wearing a cross.

Blessed by a mayan shaman to eternal life, the centuries of combat have twisted his mind; now the only thing that matters his adding to his collection of shrunken heads made from fallen foes.

Work in progress still adding to the design of the costume.

What fun is a tiny gun? Giant guy, giant gun. Don't worry, the pile of corpses he's standing on are tiny guys

    Thanks for the compliments.

C Macgreevy: thanks didnt think of that.
you have interesting idea going, i would alter your pose a bit and work out the placement of the elements a little more, also watch your values, your painting is extremely dark/ a lot of black,
besides that its a good take, i like the helmet and the flag/cape?

beer time, now to figure out where to place the alien bodies. . .

Thanks for that, just to clarify are you saying that what I have here doesn't qualify as a character?

If you are referring to this

That isn't enough to call it a character design because, all you have is an exaggerated figure. We see that he is a character but that's not the whole point. What I am saying is, if that is the posed gesture that you are going to roll with, now is the time to design the character. Clothing, trinkets, weapons, etc; everything that defines a character. You have to show us, what makes this the battlefield butcher. Really dig into your imagination and show us why this guy should be a horrifying being to encounter. If you leave it as it is, we can simply call it a zombie, which is just a general category and non-unique.

    Great work guys.

    LukasN. Number 4... please!

Maragnarok. Glad to see a modern military world war butcher, good start. I think you should reference a thompson machine gun or a rifle. That looks a bit AK47 and seems out of place (historically). Have you seen suckerpunch? Rubbish film but awesome characters and designs.

Some pretty badass stuff so far! This is the first CHOW I've tried in a long while; hopefully I can get the damn thing finished this time around.

When I read the theme I thought of those insane Celtic berserkers that fought wearing nothing but paint and a helmet, and how terrifying that must have been for the average Roman legionary...

I'm thinking I still haven't unified the color scheme enough; if anyone wants to give me pointers in that direction that'd be awesome.

Hello People! My name's Dio, 2D Game Artist and Freelance Illustrator.
I love designing characters and this is my first time on CHoW (I think), I hope you can enjoy!

This is my rendition of a battlefield butcher, for me it shouldn't have to be a big brute one, I prefer doing someone's who psychotic.

This one, is called with "Slender Terror". During the war, he chained all the time in a cage, until his army release him. He's blindfolded and practically blind, but he can smell the fresh warm blood of every remaining soldier on the battlefield, and he hunts for it. He's using a double-bladed spear, the straight ones for cutting heads, while the curved one for picking the heads he cut. And he knows no allies.
