    Wink RyanWc S&I area.

Hello Conceptart.org! I'm a long time visitor and big fan. I have some activity on this site, but it's pretty ancient, so I want to start fresh. The new thread will be called my Sketch and Idea area to help me become more active in the art community.

Here I will start. It is a shade-predator-demon. His body is mostly covered in hard bone like armor to protect him and also to intimidate. The hands are hooked-like because he tears out the souls of his victims. Whereas, the markings are runes that bind his soul to the shell. He levitates with a ghostly essence leaking out of the shell.

Here is a work in progress Nordic character. I'm thinking about draping a pelt-like tunic off him(somewhat hinted in texture on clothing). I tend to like this style for some reason, playing with the shapes it pretty fun too. It is sculpted with plastiline. I have a vision to make him roughly 12 inches tall.

Well here is sketch that I did today. I'm trying to break my confines as an artist. I'm aware that I have rigid methodologies that have been killing my motivation to create. One of them is that I have been imposing on myself a 'thou shalt, and thou shalt not' system of drawing. For example, I have been obsessed with the idea that I cannot visualize what I want to draw. I read of people and how so many say they are able to visualize scenes in their head like a movie when reading, drawing, or doing any creative thinking. I was so envious of this, and felt that unless I can see 100% clarity of my intention on my art, that it was not worth starting. Which seems to be pretty much always. I have been discovering that I'm not so much a visual thinker, I'm rather someone who feels what is right to me, which I accept.

Hello you got very nice works in here, I can't take my eyes of your owl and the sculpture of a man. In my opinion your ability to visualize will increase with your experience, so don't give in, just draw by the way, I think I have the same problem ;d

Thank you for the compliment. If visualization will help me be a better person, then I hope I'll be able to do it eventually. I took a look at your sketchbook. I like your idea of working studying from film/pictures. If you are familiar with Jeremy Vickery on deviant art, he studies from film too, and he's a genius. http://jermilex.deviantart.com/

Nice owl! The more you draw from life, the more you build up your skills. Pay attention to the light sources! I am just learning that too.

Here is a sketch of an idea of a world where suffering does not exist. I want to convey what a utopian world would be like. It makes sense to me that the only way that world could exist, is if the people in that world understood what love is, and how that relates to personal sacrifice. Like it or not, we do live in a world where survival of the fittest predominates. The strong consume the weak and this causes suffering. The way I see to end this is if we go against the grain which is incredibly hard, but in the end it is worth it.
