    Third, Fourth time lucky

Hello everyone and welcome to my... fourth sketchbook. Yes, it's time to check if my fourth approach to create an interesting sketchbook is possible. I hope so. So Ill tell sth about me:

24 years (born 1988), now i ended my academy and... I still suck. The main problem with me is that I cannot draw from imagination or design anything (anything concrete) that just little resembles real life forms (still better at shitty abstract i don't even understand). This is probably connected with my past, when I never observed anything and anyone. On the other hand I love it and still want to improve. I very much like drawing, digital painting and animation. That's why I decided to create this sketchbook and of course, this time i won't forgive myself if I left it like my previous. I always liked to draw quickly, sometimes even extremely fast (even wanted to surpass ordinary speedpainting with my speed ) Actually have problems with drawing women, muscles, anatomy in general, animals, plants, clothes and drapery, cars and other vehicles, and more complex architecture. I think im better at environments, special effects and drawing from observation.

My approach to this one: make progress by making my art better but not necessary to kill myself doing it always better than previous works (that was my previous approach that ended 3 sketchbooks) This time i want to enjoy doing it and be free with my own art, in other words just draw for fun. I will post here anything i can (or can't) draw

Enjoy! I will try to be more active on the forum too

Criticism, comments and all of that stuff very appreciated!

if u want to look at my previous sketchbooks i left incomplete:

    http://conceptart.org/forums/showthr...elf&highlight=

At first some of my digital-traditional art set and some fractal art.

Rest are my recent pencil and pen tryout. Trying to spend some more time with it.

n1frit - thank you so much, yes, i feel better in color and still cannot get used to quick lineart like posemaniacs. I still create many unstable lines that destroys form and overall drawing.

shitty imagination drawings of animals and stuff

This is really good opportunity to show you how bad is my drawing from imagination, especially concerning animals and clothing. This is my weakest side of all my aspects in drawing. This time I wanted to check it myself

It should be illegal to draw such adorable animals. your digitals still need som sculpting, what i did when i just started photoshop like ages ago, was to just put colours down, i think it helped my brain make shapes, so i can pretty much paint from imagination now, im just crap at gestures now, but that's because i spend too much time drawing faces. I wonder where my cat is. Damn, i wish i could go to an academy, i don't remember what i was taught during my animation high school's 3 years. Could be because i had over 75% absence.

Always great to see unbridled imagination unleashed in a sketchbook! I think your sketches have a really nice quality to them and I really like the compositions of your digital paints. Also great to see you doing gesture studies, I'm doing the same at the moment too

Your work could do with a bit more construction I think, so it's good to see you practicing your basic volumes. Your sketches look great but the lack of construction shows through in your more rendered works. A good exercise would be to do a gesture drawing session, then go over your gestures and try and construct the human form within in it so you can see where you're proportions are out. Just having construction on the head would make it so much easier to place the eyes..etc. Check out Proko.com - that guy's got the best video examples of the Loomis head construction I've seen!

Great stuff though, and keep going

LoudLikeNature - thank you very much for commenting, adorable animals?? oh my.. I cannot believe someone coul'd actually say that... and yes, you are absolutely right. I should do more B&W drawings with values only and so. Next time i will try something different and check how it works.

thek - thanks for so comprehensive comment, Im going to try all your advices in near future, and go deeper in construction (yes, I lack it as hell, never used construction and also try to do something more with gestures. So let's go with proko.com! I think it can be good idea to do some more studies from basic loomis and bridgman's books.

And from me, a very quick digital painting session from imagination ;D

Understanding your current weaknesses and working towards improving them is the first step towards becoming great, it's nice to see that you've taken the time to do that. Keep up your hard work!

Not many ppl are good at something they've never did before, the ones from reference look very accurate and their horsiness is well caught

This time i fought with some of my critical weakness, clothing! Yes it's so hard I cannot even imagine it on my character. So.. gonna change it!

Keep it up man, i'm seeing lots of improvement on your imagination horses. Some early imagination stylised faces are really awesome. You seem to have a good stroke when working from ref, more confident... i dunno, i may be wrong so take what i said with a grain of salt, im a bit feverish these days. lol

olivierKAZ - Thank you for commenting on my sb, yes, I can feel my horse improvement too like one is always better than zero ;D. About my stroke quality I always thought that from ref and observation it's often jagged and bumpy so it's good to hear that this aspect was improved in my drawings. Come again if u wanna see more improvements!
