hampton is awesome to draw, dont forget to apply it dude! that book has ALOt of info, ease into it and try to draw a full arm from memory and then compare it to hamptons, see what you forgot or got wrong and repeat, this will really juice your studies because mecanic copies will only get you so far!
remember that its of the utmost importance to always construct your drawings, specially the ones from imagination, try to feel the forms and the subject, good luck!
my sketchbook! Drawing like a maniac!!

stunning amount of work in just 7 days, very inspiring, keep up the rhythm![]()
>> JDBI >> Tnx! Do you speak portuguese?!If so, are you brazillian or portuguese?
>> lionheartGFX >> Tnx for commenting, I really need to do more of that, I plan to revisit the book lather this year again.
>> Veshkau >> Tnx!
>> aks9 >> Tnx for commenting, all of this took more than 7 days like I said in the original post, I start to take it seriously about a couple of months ago, so I'm still posting that, kind of old I know, but I was afraid to start a thread, now that I did I wanna keep track of everything I've been done. I hope that is understandable
Some torso, and now legs (again around 2 days of work here, made a few of weeks ago)
Your sketchbook is full with many great stuff and every page is clean and neat! there is also improvement in each new post!
Especially I like the paintings and the perspective.
Keep up the good work!
Damn, you produce good amount of work daily. Seems you are also organized and your lines are nice. I can't really comment on anything, you are way above me, but just wanted to tell you I'm impressed.
Hey there, looking good so far man. Your line work looks solid so far. There are places here and there that need to be cleaned up and there is stuff that is still off proportionally but that will come with time. Always keep a sharp eye for what looks right and always be honest with yourself, if something is off, go back and fix it immediately. Don't just let it slide, otherwise you wont improve. Your painting skills seem far behind your drawing skills (although the character piece you did was pretty good) so you might want to ridge that gap.
Nice anatomy studies, the human figure is definitely a good place to start. Don't forget the head, hands, and feet. They are all pretty tricky so practice them a lot.
Overall, good work man. Let's see more!
Whoa! The amount of improvement since the last time I was here is absolutely incredible!! Keep doing what you're doing because it's really working!!
You're one to watch, I'll tell you that!
I'll be here with the Daggers for the rest of my art journey.
Keep pushing people, let us be great together-!
Thanks for dropping by my sketchbook. I am very impressed with the standard of your anatomy work and observational skills. You clearly are applying lots of knowledge and those arms are really well drawn. Have you done any life drawing? It would be good for you to see these shapes in real life and have fun drawing them. Also, using negative space can be a really useful tool when checking proportions and angles. For example, the woman in post 7 (really cool btw), her back forms a triangular (negative space) shape in the original but yours has a more rectangular shape, which then slightly altered the arm and neck. I am only pointing it out because you are clearly at a high standard and super accurate with your anatomy studies. Great sketchbook.
lovely studies. keep it up.
Hey M.Calza!
Thanks for stepping at my SB. Loving your line quality Try to render some out also (if you aren't already doing so), I figured out myself too late how important is to start early with mass drawing and tones. About your comment over doing more finished imagination stuff, I sincerely feel that I lack more experience rendering out details and working from life/photos, every time I try to do something from imagination I get stuck at some stages. But I still try a couple of times everyday to do stuff from imagination and it's starting to feel better (but not yet good enough). Thank you very much again and keep on working!.
Thanks for the SB visit.
Yours is looking good. Fantastic studies and great attention to detail. I love the way you make your lines too - really clean and crisp. Cant really crit anything because you've already had solid advice from everyone. Just keep going, good luck, and don't forget to have fun with it!
great studies, improvement in anatomy and line quality is amazing. Hope to see more color work from you as well!
some nice studies in here!but don't make "studies" a priority and forget about drawing stuff you dig
keep it going man!
Your sketchbook went from good to brilliant real quickly man, very very nice progress; your anatomy is spot on and your gestures capture the essence of the pose very nicely, real cool!
Also, thanks for stopping by my sketchbook and giving me advice, I really appreciate it![]()

My (currently) terrible sketchbook
Nice work mate, your studies are super clean. Get this up to date so we can see where you are now![]()
>> Mr.Pryminista >> Tnx for commentingYeah I don't paint digitally very often
, I'll finish my anatomy stuff first though, legz(below) and heads are next, then try to go digital!
>> smrrfette >> Hi there again!!you're one to watch on my list too, let us be awesome! Tnx for stopping by again!
>> Dayle >> Tnx for commenting! Yeah, I'll for sure think more about the negative space when drawing from reference, tnx
>> lifelover >> Tnx!
>> herionz >> Need to do more of my things, which I'm not really sure what they are yetI'll check your sb from time to time to see your progress.
>> Candra H >> Tnx for stopping by! Thankfully I learned to have fun while studying
>> R-K >> Tnx man!
>> pgf95 >> Yeah, that's becoming a problemI'm really focusing on getting things right without creating "things", tnx for the advice.
>> Thistleborn >> Tnx you too man!
>> Kvetch >> Tnx man, almost there, almost I promise
Sorry about any mispelling.
For today, more legzz
Already a lot of progress! Your leg studies look great and your lines work is very nice! Keep up the hard work.
love the studies! I love the way michael hampton breaks down the body.. I'm always a sucker for heavy form based drawingssss. Do you work much from imagination?
>> V3T >> Tnx man!
>> Jarrad >> Hampton is great, I'm trying to do stuff from imagination more often, but it's really hard for me. Must keep trying! Tnx for stopping by!
Some figures, mostly from reference. And some random crap in the middle.
This is all so cool! Your studies are great!!

man i saw so much improvement in just the first page ....its crazy..........keep up with the awesome pace man
i like your linework....and its improving at a fast rate
keep it up!!
So this is Hampton method? Your progress made me interested in it.
One more thing. I see you put attachment as last image in first post. If you were aiming for changing thumbnail you should move other images from first post to second. If not then disregard this.
>> mosqueira >> Vlw pelo comment, te respondi no seu sb
>> pastasauca >> Tnx!
>> Xcarbon >> Tnx man!
>> MadGrav >> Yeah this is Hampton(most part of it) I highly recommend his book. Yeah as was trying to change the thumb, tnx!
And now a head madness begins, there will be lots for some time.
I need to use clean lines for shadows, like you, next time. Nice studies (and huge amount). If you are learning about heads there are Proko videos on Youtube that last few minutes and explain in easy way how to visualize extreme angles. But you could already know that, so just saying.
what do you use for the perspective studies? those lines were so crisp and effortless looking. thanks for sharing
>> MadGrav >> Tnx for commenting, yeah I saw Proko's videos, really helpful, I'll see again in the future.
>> guanto >> Tnx for stopping by, I answered in your sb.
Some more headz, some from Loomis, some from references and some from imagination.
