    ZakknRoll's Sketchbook

    Hi people!!
I'm a new member of Conceptart.org and I'm here because I want to improve my art skills =)
So please give me your feedback, I'd love to hear your crits and comments.

I always wanted to be an comic pennciller, but in the last times I'm in love with Character design and enviroment concepts, And I now want to follow this career, so some advices about it can be very helpful.

Some sketchs I did in the last days: ((I'm still learning about colors, PS and so on, It's all new stuff for me...)

Great start man, your line drawings are really neat. Would like to see you try to paint without them though. Try to build up a painting with just valeus and colors. Keep it loose in the beginning and let the clean lines come in later.

    Keep it comming dude!

Welcome! I like your drawings ! Especially the texture on the tree bark in the first Panel of Post #1, the sense of depth in the first picture (forest) of post #2, and the variety of expressions with the character face sketches. Keep up the good work!

I like your drawings and how you portray emotions on characters. But do you only do your studies and works in cartoon style?

Thanks for the comment MadGrav =) well, I don't like realistic styles, so usually I draw just in cartoon style... but I studie from realist "stuff" as well, like life and so on. I'll post some stuff like that in the future.

This is really great. I especially like that big "mouth" on second page and whole third page. I can see you becoming pretty popular when you get better. Where do you get those ideas from?

Thank you Madgrav =) The ideas come just from my memory, I think in animals, monsters, shapes and so on, so I start having fun with the pen and the things happen hehe.

So which filters let me make some cool things like that? You know, lines, color and everything.

But seriously now. I kinda feel like something is off with those. Is sky on second overfiltered? Or is that saved with high compression? Not sure if you were aiming for this, kinda feels dirty. (Sorry if this comment is stupid).

    hi

i like your comic style, your first panel is good

you seems unconfortable with your last post post: the tree

you should pay less attention to details and paint with bigger brushes

also your green is too saturated, begin with less saturated color then, use intense color only in focal spots

the penciling of the tree is very good, dont losse it too quickly

and don't use the PS filter dude, you're painting :unless it's liquify

think of the light and how he fall onto the tree (cylinder)

also the color should get darker when going down (gradation cause it receive less light)

Hi Madgrav, thanks =) about your question... hmmmm I know the paitings don't look so cool, a kind of "dirt" like you said, I was just doing some experiencs with "find edges" filter above all the layers.. I'm not sure if it's what you did want to know, please let me know.

    Hi Zou ^^
Thank you for your comment, I'll keep all the things you said me in mind, I really wanna learn to paint, so all kind of comment are really enjoyable for me, help me a lot!!
It's too a new thing for me.

About the filters I was just trying a effect that Daniel Lieske from Worm World Saga uses on his paintings, He uses the Find Edges to get a cool effect:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvN1zbpCqlw 1 hr11 min if you wanna check it.

I'm not sure, what you means with Liquify??? and when you said about the pencilling, for me don't loose it too quick, are you telling about keep the pencils on the paitings? sorry, I just didn't understand that so well.
Again, thank you sooo much for the words, It'll help me really really a lot.
