The Witness sounds interesting, but I'd have to see actual gameplay to be convinced.

Infamous 3 sounds like it'll be really cheesy, but I know I'll try it.

No idea what to make of Media Molecule's new...whatever. So it's Zbrush with the Playstation Move? What?

And...Square just shows off that thing everyone's already seen?

Sony didn't miss their opportunity to miss an opportunity. The compressed compression made everything impossible to make anything out other than the technical bragging and ass kissing. I really couldn't see anything that the ps3 couldn't do. I did miss allot of the presentation but I'm guessing I didn't miss much.

How did they neglect mgs ground zeros. I was hoping for something like this on pcp. Unless Kojima announced a next gen title out of turn.

Whatever that game is, it looks interesting, for sure. Just because it's a Kojima game means it has to be MGS5? Really?

    ...Ok, I googled it. Kojima's a troll. That's still a great trailer.

Deep Down was the game I think impressed the most visually.

As for Watch Dogs though, I'm sure that game wasn't initially developed with the PS4 in mind, so they've probably just added some nice effects to it, but not much more.

Deep Down is impressive graphics wise yerp. Don't really know what's up with the gameplay. Feels like it's a bunch of cinematics.

MGS5 is going to be an interesting title. Mainly because it's going to make or break the series imo. Because Kojima's whole thought process from what I've read is open world, and 'a game without end'. So for a series that is very story and sequence based no clue where he's going with this.

I missed deep down. That one seems to be pushing the nitty gritty. I was distracted by the choppy stream of new age imagovationtivity snake oil gibberish. I checked out the trailers on IGN and it's a thousand percent more clear than what's on youtube right now.

I guess MGS 5 is just going to be bigger in scale on the console leap. Sort of like the difference between Rage and New Vegas. As we all know the bigger the game the uglier the game. I can't imagine anything of that quality holding steady on the 360 in a BIG open world without reverse topology.

It could include all of the GTA cities in the console jump. That would be cool.

That "PS3 footage" is actually on a PC. (So is the PS4 footage, but it has PS4's specs).
PS4 is hugely more powerful than PS3. 8GB GDDR5 is practically overkill.
    Developers will be unleashed.

Back when San Andreas was essentially the entire state of California (plus Vegas), I kept expecting the scale of the GTA games to get larger and larger.

Granted, most of the scale of San Andreas is purely artificial, but it certainly feels like a whole state.

Then Sony should have flossed that shit. The only in game footage they had looked enhanced, but not a game changing breakthrough. The 360 looked that way at first too, but they chewed through the leash eventually. So I think there is more up there sleeve.

What would have nailed it is if they demonstrated some sort of technology that current hardware can't support like voxels or path tracing. Even an improvement on mega textures would have done the trick.

Funny thing is I got to play the Wii U myself this weekend. Just some standard Nintendoland. Was fun as shit. First time playing a game with 5 people. Controls worked just fine. If all the next gen sony and microsoft have is mildly better graphics. Then if WiiU just gets some standard game titles released it's going to do well like always for Nintendo.

I dunno dude, if these don't satisfy you then I don't think anything will:

And those are just the launch games. PS3 launch games looked like complete shit compared to games like Uncharted 3.

It was pretty hard to really be impressed during the initial stream, because IGN's servers were so overloaded that most viewers had to settle with crappy quality video to look at when they revealed each game.

The GameTrailers stream was pretty good, but yeah, can't very well judge high res graphics based on an internet stream

The XBox event is supposedly coming April 26, too far away but I'm still excited to see how it turns out

Those gifs really give a clearer picture than the videos I found.

Deep Down is really a big jump. It looks believable too. I can see shortcuts to keep the polycount down.

If that draw distance in killzone is for real and not just a parlor trick, that will really change the way shooters are played.

If you look really close you can see that all the buildings are low poly with good use of effects and textures

Also this was made on a dev kit with only half the RAM as the final PS4, so even more could be possible

I hope the draw distance improves. It's become a problem with the tactics I like to use. I hate it when I go through the trouble of scoping out vantage points only to find I don't have the range.

Kojima did announce his Next Gen tittles out of turn. I watched his hour and a half long demo. Long story short it's about to get about twice as expensive.

    Short Fox Engine Demo

Trailer.....They had me until V came to.

    Gameplay

So finally managed to get myself a wii u and im impressed, so far ive got nintendoland, new super mario bros, zombiu and darksiders 2 and ive got monster hunter 3 ordered for next week.
Nintendoland is a hell of alot of fun Can't stand the announcer though, worse nintendo character then navi.
For launch games the graphics are good not much out so far but ports obviously but zombiu is one of the most atmospheric games ive ever played definitely one of the best zombie games ive ever played if you've ever played condemned the atmospher is similair to that.
Also like the online functionality so far and they're gradually improving it they just need to add cross-game party chat similair to xbox and i'll be happy.

PS4's looking good I think sony had a good conference announcing it, I probbly won't be buying it though unless they pull some really great exclusives out it was a good console but my ps3 mostly gathered dust aside from the uncharted series and metal gear is multiplatform now.

I don't know if you guys follow the GDC 2013, but it's always great stuff:

I think the most remarkable improvement will be in the mobile front. You see, with NVidia releasing the Tegra 4 processor, with 72 graphics cores, we have graphics that match current gen consoles.
The number of graphics cores is the best indicator of performance. This is the number of processing units a rendering task can be split up across. A Wii has 16 graphics cores. I think the PS3 has 32. An XBox 360 has 48. A high-end PC can have more than a thousand, but no one writes software that utilizes them.
Now we're moving away from this mutual complacence scenario we're geting from MS and Sony (a noncompetitive market), to the highly competitive mobile market that's got iOS, Android, BB, Ouya, Shield, Ubuntu, etc.
We're gonna see some great stuff.

I'm glad to hear all the tech terms here (voxels, mega-textures etc.).
Does anyone here fiddle with actual game dev, even if as a hobby?

I tried my hand at indie games. Unfortunately when your not getting payed the development stops when the fun stops.

    ^Yerp. 100%.
Part of my hobby was making an iphone game with friends. I'd do all the sprites. Problem is that gets really tiring, and is a lot of work. So once the fun goes nothing gets done.

Even more so if your a small group. The fewer people working on something the worse it is. If I had a handful of other people working on stuff with me I'd be really motivated because I know it's possible to get it done. But when you just have you know 1-2 guys doing the programming, 1 the music, 1 all the graphics etc. The workload is heavy on each person.

Okay I just have to post this here this is what microsofts creative director thinks of the whole always online idea for the next xbox and oh dear god is he pretentious, also these are the worst analogy's ive ever seen.
    http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=534951

Also considering he works for ms this just brings more truth to the whole always online thing.

Always online is clearly asking for trouble. Just when most games are released relatively glitch free. I live in a fairly high population area and my internet goes out all the time. Most people I know just use their phones for the internet. The best place I lived had no broadband whatsoever. And it was only about 15 miles outside San Francisco. So essentially always online would alienate at least a third of their consumer base.

Now in this guy's defense this is the best argument for "always connected" even if it's invalid. I think he's just trolling to guage a reaction and see if xb can get away with it, so they can save money on DRM measures. Either that or he has a death wish. It's not like the 360 has an actual piracy problem.

I'd understand if it were up to the developer's discretion. Like Bungie's new game is going to have a little multiplayer in the story mode. I don't have an xbl gold membership, so I'll have to live without it. But if I have to pay for a membership to play any games at all, I'll have to live without games. They are already at the bottom of my priorities list.

Actually if you read down a bit seems like this guy's had an attitude problem for a while he's got fired from a few other places for being rude and obnoxious and there's a rumour ms have fired him as well so im assuming he's an idiot with a death wish.
This guy should work for ea though he would be a great speaker for and visual interpretation of the company.
