What's up everyone! Lurked here for a while, too consciously incompetent to post. I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing with colours, but I struggle with them. Here's a bunch of recent stuff, starting with Avatar/Legend of Korra fan art

Ohh I really like Aang's portrait (the blues on his face are great). Digging the atmosphere in the last two pieces too.
I don't have any advice for coloring, nor am I eligible to do so, but Gurney's book on color and light is fantastic!

hehe cool adult aang man. you have a nice grasp of color, and those thumbnails have some sweet hue shifts. good good stuff. my only crit would be in that viking village animation bg wip, the shadows could be pushed a bit more to further ground the buildings. right now it seems like there is atmosphere where it shouldnt be, particularly in that focal point building. the undersides of the awnings aren't as dark as the cast shadow of the building itself so it looks like it's floating. that's about it, keep up the good work!

Excellent crit man, exactly what I needed to hear. Thank you! I poked around with it a little more but eventually realised I was in the monkey house with it. Didn't thumbnail to begin with!

Slow couple of weeks, no excuse other than, uhh, had a lot of laundry. Here's today's sketchbook stuff, referenced from good old lovecastle

Some quicker figures from the same session. I haven't worked traditionally for so long, really missed ctrl+z

This morning's Legend of Korra background study. I'm doing a background study from either Avatar: The Last Airbender or Legend of Korra every day, with the limit of an hour on each. My brush economy needs work and I'd like to learn how to effectively imply detail. The paint teams behind the shows have that stuff down.

And a few from the last few days. The limit of an hour requires me to focus on the bigger picture and colour shapes, but I'm having trouble getting caught up in detailed areas before the block in is done. I am the slowest artist ever.

    Yay for more art!!
Oooh these colour studies/1hr speedpaints are really kicking butt! + the fact that they're from Avatar stills = even more kickass

Keep it up, keep it up!

Can anyone tell me how to change the image that displays next to the sketchbook thread? I didn't realise it would take my first attachment and resize it. Consequently, my thread looks terrible lol

One hour Avatar background study. Ran out of time, so the figure had to be left as lines.

About the thumb I think you have to take out your attachments of the first post and just leave the image you want, your enviros are looking better!Keep posting
