Spartan Camp #254- 50 gestures + Optional "Clothed Gestures" Study
The aim is to produce 50 gestures by Sunday the 10th of February.
- The gestures can be of anything, human, animal, cavorting capybaras.... You can draw full figures, but you can also go for heads, arms, eyes, or anything specific. All media can be used, both digital or traditional. Coloured or black/white. Quick scribbles or long studies. Imagination or referenced. Clothed or nude. Specifics are up to you!
- In addition to this, participants can choose to do an Optional "Clothed Gestures" Study, in any medium.
Additional notes on this weeks’ Optional Study:
The Background
Gesture drawings are frequently done 'naked', both in reference and drawing guides. After all, we're practising the human figure. In practice however you may find yourself drawing figures that are usually clothed. This begs the question; do clothed gestures differ fundamentally? Is it tougher, easier? This week we'll find out trough practise.
The Exercise
Simply make sure that besides your 'normal' gestures, you also have a set of clothed gestures. This will allow us to compare so that we might learn something new. Ideally these should be gestures, not fully rendered drawings.
Reference advised. Many of us use gesture drawing tools that already feature clothed gestures, which is very convenient for this optional study. You can simply include a couple of those (will be editing reference shortly).

You can also use fashion show images for the optional study.
As always- reference advised, not obligatory. Colour, medium, time frame, any specifics are up to you! Good luck and have fun! And feel free to ask questions!
50 poses is a challenge, but don't hurry or stress yourself reaching it! Focus on drawing, as practising is the main goal of this exercise.
Criticizing each other is highly encouraged!! Share constructive criticism, reference images and resources!! Let's help each other get better!
Come on soldiers! Flex those muscles!!
