    Paky's Sketchbook - Let's start!

Hi guys, finally I decided to start a sketchbook!
My target is to draw better and then pass to digital painting
They are two sketchs: the first is made with a reference found on Facebook while the second is made by myself.

Great to see ya start a SB,

For the faces here's some videos that show the basics of the head, they can be applied to manga if you so chose:

The head in 3/4 view by Burne Hogarth:

Cartoonist Peter Emslie making faces using the same stuff you'll see Burne do:

Also a great thing for starting out is gesture as it'll help beat the body into your head: http://www.posemaniacs.com/thirtysecond

To note the hair you did for your stuff has a lot of single lines and it makes it messy and loses any hope of looking solid. Here's some studies by John Kricfalusi that shows how to study and draw hair with construction:

Here's the post he made taking about hair: http://johnkstuff.blogspot.ca/2010/0...irls-hair.html

These help point in the right direction but it comes down to applying it in study from life.

I began the studies on the human body
In this sketch I've tried to memorize the proportions and the length.
