Contests and Shows to know about for artists

Every once and while I hear about a contest or show either right before or after it happens or a deadline passes. Do any of you seasoned veterans have a list of things you enter or participate in every year that you think it would be valuable to be aware of for some of us younger guys?

These are the ones I do know about just to get the list started. I'll edit this original post as people add to keep it all together.

I've had success with Society of Illustrators NY but never tried LA. As I look them it seems LA is a little more genre friendly. May try it next year. But both and others like Communication Arts and American Illustration put emphasis on the hot now stuff. There are, of course, exceptions but a lot of the editorial and advertising look. Society of Illustrators has a student competition too but I believe you have to enter through a teacher.

What about CG competitions? Seems like there are quite a few.

I use WOOLOO.org, they send me the latest events and calls to my inbox so I can notify my associates who might be able to take a stab at it. there's others but wooloo is active.
