The question is if it worked good enough for artists?

A few months ago I wanted to paint to together with a friend, cause he wanted to show me some fundamental techniques, but the problem was that we didn't find any program / site to paint together without lags.
One of the first OpenCanvas versions is still the best when it comes to painting together.

Someone mentioned being able to see the most-thanked posts.
    Chat would be fun, yeah.

I haven't seen any non-oekaki solutions for drawing together, which is a bummer. oC1.1 doesn't work on modern machines any more.

Bad idea. Would lead to an avalanche of thanks on the same posts due to exposure effect, permanently locking in the near-random top 100 and leaving all the rest unlooked at.

There are ways around this. Look at Reddit--people upvote posts and they rise to the top. Then they have an algorithm that lets it stay at the top for a bit but after a little while lets it sink down and have other things rise to the top. It works perfectly, and is one of the most visited sites in the world, so has a lot of people upvoting things.

It would be a good element, atleast if it would work like Andrew Sonea explained.
But the problem is that it would be more difficult to code and currently all technical persons are still working on conceptart to get everything working after the update 4.0
    But stll sounds like an awesome feature ;_;

Speaking of uneven thanked posts... I was browsing through a skecthbook the other day and found this. I'm pretty sure it's a site bug, because I tried reloading the page with a different browser and the number stayed the same.

Reddit is built as a news site that relies on flow of information that comes into attention and goes out of it, not a forum with archiving like this one. And applying upvoting to the "thanks"... why is this even needed?

Well the upvote and thanks are essentially analogous, and even if they differ slightly the comparison is easy to make. Reddit also has archives though, so I'm not sure what your point is. I'm just saying it's possible to have popular posts be displayed up front somewhere and then as new posts become popular have them replace the older ones rather than just have the same posts displayed up front for all eternity.

Often the most thanked posts are either funny or informative both need reference on what they're talking about to make sense. So unless you see the post they're referring to often it's useless.

Would be pretty pointless on a forum like this.

Hm, as hearing the other people's point of view, I have to say that I agree with their opinion.
At first the feature would look quite nice but the more I think about it..
Other features would be better implented first.

Oh, a massage from the technical side of the team.
Thanks for letting us know BlackSpot!

Is there any info how long it will take until the first new things are added?
Not that it takes as long as the site update that was done a few months ago, hehe...

    Four odd billion thanks... Lol.

I'm late to this conversation and don't have anything to suggest - everything I thought of in the other thread has been put forward by others so I'd just be repeating them. I just wanted to add my support for the positivity and ideas in here. They're mostly good, and I especially like the ones for a dedicated section for contests and shows outside CA, and a showcase for professionals to pimp their current work. Though, isn't that what the FF section is for? Mind you, it does get a lot of... oddities so maybe a separate pro section would be better, so yeah, I'm still liking that.

    Okay, I started rambling. Sorry.

That was me. My idea was to have a section, possibly on the front page, that showcases the most thanked posts - not just of all time, but of the month or week for example.

So only limit it to the past month or week.

But it's just an idea of course. Showcasing the challenge winners and upcoming challenges is more important anyway - I hope we get to see that implemented in the near future.

Return to the old color scheme of the site, or design a new one. This color scheme is unpleasing to look at, and different kinds of posts are poorly identified according to their colors and are poorly separated from the background colors.

    Also it is dull.

Additionally having posts that were authored by or have replies by the user highlighted for easy finding would be great.

I.E. I am signed in as Sepulverture, so threads that I have authored or replied to would have a red outline around them or something so I could quickly identify them to check for replies.
