    value study

    value study.. i would really like some excellent critique. im not sure if I'm going in the right direction and some advice could be really helpful!! thanks for any advice in advance!!

    If you are doing a value study, it makes sense to establish values by blocking them in all over the picture. Leaving the background and hair white is a bad idea. Values are relative to each other; if you add a dark background now you'll find that the face and dress look much paler than you think they are now, for instance.

    Work from biggest blocks to smaller detail; use a big brush, don't scribble neurotically with a tiny one; think of the light and where it comes from, not about abstract "values".
