    Smile Avon's Sketchbook

    Hi!
My name is Aron and its my goal to break into the concept art industry before Im 21
Im currently 14 years old and from Iceland but currently live in Norway.

Ive been lurking on this site for a few months now and I decided to make a sketchbook, Im starting this to improve and learn as much as I can.
Im saving up for a scanner and hopefully I'll get one in the next weeks or so.
Any help, crits and tips are more than welcome!

Apologies in advance if the pictures I upload are too big or distorted, I'll try my best

Edit: Skip the first few images perhaps ,really crappy photo quality :/

All I have for tonight a few studies from some demos from Kevin Chen I believe, most probably going to do some leg studies later and then a character .
Been a frustrating two days, been drawing but nothing even remotely worth showing :/. Anyone got tips on 30 second gesture drawings?
I'll try to post more regularly

Aah so been trying to make cleaner characters, without shading them since they turn out as a horrible mess when I do. Any tips on shading characters or things overall?

Keep pushing them studies! I like how you are complimenting both imaginative and referenced drawings. It will really help in the long run! Keep up the hard work!

You should definitely keep this up! I might suggest taking a figure drawing class to help you get those proportions more accurate! I'm guessing you also have an anatomy book. Definitely keep studying those muscles until you have a name to each muscle shape! That's when studying becomes more of a review!

Eyrich Thanks! Im planning on getting more books as bridgman and perhaps the Michael Hampton one. And thanks for the reply

Just something for the sake of the reply
Two sketches loosely from a plate by bridgman also trying his method in construction and the other one is a some random character from my head.
Sorry for the crappy update, will post more in the coming days!

JoeThanks! Means alot I will check out those out!
V3TThank you My goal is to get out there as soon as Im capable, better work harder haha

    So this enormous update gap
Felt like I was never getting things to look 3 Dimensional or values to look even acceptable and feeling really frustrated when painting added to me fighting the software everytime I painted, so I sketched alot without shading
Also during this time I learned the valuable lesson of consistency over intensity so my goal is to draw something every day and keep this sketchbook more updated than it has been the past months/weeks

I forget sometimes the core purpose of starting a sketchbook here being the chance of getting crits and advice instead of holding back until you finally can get something right, but I guess I will have to start posting some paintings and maybe someone can tell me what Im doing so horribly wrong

So the first is a ballpoint sketch I did a while ago and the rest is mostly anatomy practice and some recent sketches where I really took my time and tried to shade it properly
    No ref as usual

Some shading exercises and my first try on environments(still loose)
All crits are gladly accepted and if someone knows a good resource for learning painting or just some exercises please comment
Will be painting alot more now that I got something to build on

Great start to a sketchbook : ) Like others have said, if you keep this up and really practise constantly, you'll be amazing by the time you hit 21. So, please do keep it up, cuz I really want to see you get better : )

Hey! I saw you stopping by my sketchbook so I thought I return the favor. I really like that you try to get a lot of motion in to your sketches. It may be hard at the beginning but it's definiatly going to pay out. The most important thing is just to keep going and pushing. I hope you keep at it

Nice studies and it's good to see you try to bring them into your imaginative pieces. Next try to get the proportions more accurate - a bit of learning perspective wouldn't go amiss. But most all just continue to enjoy drawing and don't bog yourself down with too many studies that might kill it.
