Hey guys.
Just trying to stay artistically active in a life that doesn't always have a lot of room for art. Gonna try and keep myself challenged! I wanna keep growing.

Ugh okay, I finally got rid of my flu crap so sitting at the computer to Art is less exhausting. I only got in about an hour on this but I feel like it's a good start towards getting myself to put in more time. I need to start focusing on poses/bodies more probably. x.x
Anyway here's this, my first pshop in over a month.

My power kept going out tonight for no apparent reason, so instead of the still life with bottles and fabrics that I had set up, I have this weird picture of my mouse with a bunch of blah around it. Someday I'll learn to save more frequently.
I did some quickie hands off of really low-quality photos, so I tried to keep 'em pretty loose. ...really I forgot what a pain in the ass hands are to mess with.

Looking good! Those hand studies are looking nice
Nice sketchbook start! Sweet faces and the colored hand is really nice rendered. I really like the bottom of the palm. Color transition works good there. It's hard to give any advice at moment, just go on and show us more =)
Thanks guys!
Classes started today. Nothing helps art motivation more than needing to be doing completely unrelated homework. I was mostly good today but I didn't get home until 11:00pm. Meh.
Edit: What the hell, decided to upload some stuff I did before I started this SB. It just feels so bare in here.

Wow, really nice sketchbook so far!
You're already really good with skintones! I'm impressed!
I would suggest to loosen up a little, maybe with some quick gestures or really messy sketchbook-pages.
You're awesome, keep it coming![]()
Not a whole lot to show for last week, at least not in the art department. I'm hoping I can bang out a painting tomorrow after I get all my math stuff done, because I really am feeling the art bug lately. My class notes are showing it something fierce.
I saw some people doing these really neat things a long time ago where they'd draw a torso and then different arm postures over that, and I liked it a lot. Otherwise, I just wanted to scribble out some stuff, get my brain to art again.

Okay, just spent two weeks in the hospital, and obviously wasn't feeling great before that, so I'm thinking productivity art-wise is going to be a lot better now. Currently working on a selfie, and a picture for an old friend that involves the anatomy of the inside of a rat's leg. Time to start bangin' some shi-at out!
I just have a progression going so far of the selfie I'm doing. I'm bored with it. I probably won't finish it. Bad pose or something, nothing interesting going on. But it was a way to start going again, so I'll give it that.
I also did an abstract with a friend, just throwing some paint to get back into the groove. Throwing paint is therapeutic y'all, okay? DO it. You won't regret it.

way way not done, but prolly done for the night. I gotta start that rat leg.

Okay and here's something I drew when I was in the hospital. It took about five hours, was 14 x 18, and I promptly gave it away. It's the only thing I have to show, my sketchbook has gone missing forever I'm afraid. I was too medicated for art anyways, w/e.

All that mention of Cicadas regurgitated this:

3:41 makes this mv totally worth it. ^^
-Yes to Roy Batty hands.
-Same line weight pen lines
-Almost vector like portrait
-Coloured pencils that's almost palpable
hmph! Good stuff!!!
D'aw shoot, it said the video's not available in my country. Stupid country.
and sankyew. I gotta finish that selfie I guess, even though I'm bored/annoyed at it. (Wish I actually knew how to do vectors, do you??)
Keep on working that digital selfportrait! looking really solid so far. If something feels extra challenging, put it away for a day or two and do some studies of that specific challenging area and then go back. I bet things will fall into place then. Please show more!
Why are you bored/annoyed with it? to me it looks great! maybe you're putting very high expectations on yourself?
Defiled: Thanks, I think I always put very high expectations on myself and then get annoyed when I can't reach them in a very short amount of time (or at all). ...gotta stop that. Really, really gotta stop that. Thank you for the encouragement. =)
Bought myself a new moleskine hardback journal... the other one disappeared over the last three weeks and I've been missing it sorely. Only got a page in it so far, but it's a start.

Gonna have to keep hitting it after work tonight... er actually I need to work on the rat leg anatomy. We'll see if I can work after work. I usually don't have the willpower to do anything but play.Anyone who does, I salute you.

Vectors, oh gawd, that's killing me too. Blackspot (http://www.conceptart.org/member.php?u=113173) works vectors like peanut butter on jelly, but she uses Vectrex or something off-radar. ^^
The selfie update just got a good amount of life in it. Stronger chromas? - I don't know what you did, but your eyes are seeing things my brain flatly refuses to eat and piece together.
And I agree with Murli, you may just be putting too much stress on yourself. Natalie said ^^ that in creativity, "the journey, and the passion is what's important than the absolute end when you're first starting off."
And damn them sketchbook thieves. It's like, why don't they come up with their own ideas, you know. They have thumbs! Well, at least I'd hope so.
*dropkicks
EMI music blocks US viewers??? it's so stupid.
Same vid. Music track for when them cicadas rampage.

Keep up the good work
I can only learn from your sketches, I usually press too hard >.<
The link is right there, its ok to press. Any help/advice is appreciated.
I haven't got much to say but-
lovely hand studies, the abstract paint throwing piece looks like it was really funBeautiful studies I like your lines and will be watching your sketchbook, keep posting!

burritoEd: Natalie's word is Law upon all lands. We shall heed and obey. And dropkick those who oppose her will. And also, EMI blocks like everything here. It makes me think of the Sex Pistols song (which I can't link to you because I'm betting it's blocked here) called EMI... they got pissed off at their own label. LOL
Kate: Well I got used to sketching in ballpoint pen because I hate smudges, so I had to learn to take it very light at the beginning. The only reason there's pencil on the last page I posted is because I couldn't find a very specific pen that I wanted.Try it. It's lovely. I'll post a portrait I did in ballpoint, the range you can get is amazing!
Akora: ^^ Thanks, (it was extremely fun), and thanks, I look forward to yakking atcha.
First the ballpoint portrait I mentioned... it's like a year old, probably about six hours of work.
Worked on the selfie summore. Not done yet, but I actually worked on the background which is virtually unheard of. I might actually finish something.

Delightful SB. You have some lovely stuff here.
BlackSpot: Thanks! I hope I can keep going steadily now that Spring Break is off. I envy that you have time to do traditional paints (even though I know something happened recently, my condolences).
Just doing some quickies today, I'm about to make myself late to work. aldkgjalk Oh yeah the poses were from marcus ranum stock on deviantart. mjranum-stock
More please and slower ones.
