The Builds for A Fury of Aces

    Hey guys.

Apologies that I have been away for such a long time. The last two years have been spent as Props Weapon Maker for the Hobbit movies, writing books ('Burnt Ice' was published in April 2012 and is just out on the Kindle platform) living in Wellington (hated being away from home but we all do what we have too to survive and pay the bills eh) building the models etc........ yeah busy as hell!!

So this is the next build. Called 'The Maul' it is a ground support craft which is first met in the next book of the first trilogy called 'Crystal Venom' which is coming out in August.

Over the next few months I shall take you all through each step of the build.

First stage: rough dimensional drawings in the 1/20 scale.

    Cheers

    Steve Wheeler

Interesting! Well I have seen a pretty big amount of handcrafted things in my life, but so far not anything like this^^
Nice work so far, looking forward for further progression

Just got my camera back so sorry a bit of a jump between posts but here we go again.

Base fuselage done, Engines master made, silicon mould taken and four cast up. Long way to go but as you can see lots of changes made to the original drawing already.

i love this kind of scratch builds, reminds me of the hours I spent doin static modeling (before the kids claimed my workshop). Whats the scale on this thing?

Thanks Dave, yeah scratch building is so much fun........and as you know it sucks up so many hours just looking for the right bits and pieces to incorporate in the build. My wife hates me diving into the cheap plastic shops and getting excited about some $2 toy! That and me telling all the relatives not to throw out any of their cosmetic containers.
Scale is 1/20. Probably another 100 plus hours in it yet.

So when will you get your workshop back?
