    Robotic Triumphal Arch
    Deadline: Sunday, January 20

A triumphal arch with some sort of robotic function. Think BIG people.

    Brief:
    1. Design and draw a Robotic Triumphal Arch.
    2. That's it... now draw!

It doesn't even have to move around.
A Triumphal Arch is for parading your victorious army through. You come back home after a succesful war somewhere, and walk your soldiers through the arch, that is constructed specifically for this purpose.
I'm thinking of strapping a bunch of de-militarisation stuff to my arch, so when the soldiers walk through, robotic arms remove their weapons and gear, and recycle everything, having the soldiers emerge in either dress uniform or civilian clothes on the other side.

Nice concept. I really, really like it. Design wise- if I were coming home I might want to see something slightly less ominous. To be perfectly honest, right now it kinda looks like those electronic traffic boards on highways on 'roids. This is very much a celebratory item, usually with a no expense spared and we well last forever mentality involved. What exactly that means wherever/whenever this is would be interesting.

Zenarion- We're at an early enough stage that I think you'd do well do do some thumbs. I think the first idea you had, had more promise than this current one does- you just need to work things out a bit. Digital-ness has given us a bit of a "get shit done right now!" mindset. Just take a minute or two and see where your ideas take you. Iterate on one idea, let it evolve. Or do whatever... lol. #1 thing is to do what you want to for personal things like this, and hopefully people are able to give you some good ways to get what you want to do out of your head they way you want them to be, if that makes any sense.

OK I'm going to give this a shot, haven't really ever tried industrial design so I don't really know how this will go but this is what I have so far. I'm thinking that this triumphal arch will act as a gateway...hope that fits with the idea OK

    My entry

Hey, IDW'ers! Gonna give challenges a try in 2013. I think my artwork starting/hiatus is similar to other's new years diet resolutions. Here's hoping I can keep this up instead of getting fat and lazy!

I wanted to convey the idea of a futuristic arch that could be construed to be either a:
    - spaceship for transportation of the troops
    - gateway/teleportation device, similar to RayTwicket's thoughts

Through a couple thumbnails, I arrived at this scene where I felt the environment was as important as the arch. Hopefully there's enough detail in the scene to convey the somber celebration of either troops return from, or departure to war. The arch itself is constructed of softer, organic forms, cladding over a mechanical interior.
