Hi, Alex!
Thanks for commenting on my sketchbook earlier. Your work is fantastic! I could definitely learn a bunch from you!

Do you ever do other genres? I was just noticing that your work had that clean-future sci-fi quality that has been mentioned already... and I think it's a result, not only from the awesome design, but of also using only one set of vanishing points in each piece. You know, like, if you're using a single-point perspective, everything in the scene goes to that one point, or if you're using a two-point shot, everything lines up with those two points. This, then, means everything in the scene is at right-angles to each other, because if something was turned, it would track to a different set of perspective points on the same horizon line. It's a great stylistic choice and gives your works that clean look, and I was wondering if this was all done intentionally. But I was also just thinking and wondering what your take would be on less-clean environments, like seedy back alleys, westerns, or decaying ruins... or even of just placing elements with these types of environments that sit at odd angles to each other, so that they track to different sets of vanishing points along the same horizon... It might be something interesting to experiment with...

By the way - I love how vibrant your water color thumbnails are!

Hey Angieb, thank you for your post!

Well, yeah I've tried other genres and by the way next week I'm about to draw mainly classic and neo-classic environments because I'll move to the other city and there will be a lot of inspiration

But in general I'm a really big fan of sci-fi so I'm very influenced by it. I'm reading a lot of sci-fi books and everytime imagine in my head how it will look like on my paper.

About using a one point perspective...I have to say that it wasn't done all intentionally. Maybe a bit..but I would say it came with practice. I've just realized, that one point has big potential and I want play with it as much as possible.

Just quick post...yesterday while traveling by train and tram I decided to do some sketches. So here is a first one that I did before I went sleep. Today I'll make more, cause I have a few ideas...need to put it on paper

hey alex nice sketch, try using thicker line weight around the silhouette of your drawing also you can biff up the edges which are closer to you and that will give your sketches more of a sense of "poping out of the page".

Hey Sergey, thank you for advice. i really appreciate it. About silhouette...I saw Scott Robertson's lecture about proximity based styling and on the first place is a silhouette, proportion and stance. 2. value graphics, 3. transitional form, 4. Line graphics, 5. info graphics, 6. materials, 7.color and last 8. texture. Thats why I poped out my silhouette, cause it's identifying vehicle very quickly...

Thanks wormy. Actually I'm using only my visual library (which is not very big yet

) and imagination.

Thank you, I'm trying to improve it as much as possible. I read a lot of sci-fi books and I'm a big fan of sci-fi movies as well

really interesting studies. Are they straight from your imagination. I love the way you draw you people in them too haha! Tiny skinny legs, but it still works really well! You clearly understand perspective too.

I'm envious of your thumbnails and that you use them so well! It's just something I've never been able to pick up unless it's a small scribblu sketch which isn't of much use. I can really see your sci fi influence in your work, and the linework is great! I'd only be repeating what others have suggested so I won't

Your watercolour thumbnails really stood out to me, I love your use of colour in hem and that you're trying out different lighting etc, you should definitely do some more of those! You could even try doing larger full watercolour paintings, combined with your sci fi landscapes and architecture, they'd look great and I'd love to see themif you do! Keep up the great work!

Cool work, like you perspective and more technical drawings.
If you haven't done that yet, I'd suggest watching the Scott Robertson dvd's and go through his books.
I'd also suggest doing quick thumbnail sketches to get an idea of where's you're going and develop a few of them. Tons of examples in SR's books (like Lift Off).
Don't hesitate to practice drawing ellipses or get an ellipse guide. Your drawings are clean but some of the rounder forms are a bit more scribbly.

By the way I'm practicing drawing ellipses but in most cases in the final stage I'm using ellipse guide to draw over freehand.

Heyo alex,lovely sketches I especially love the thicker line weight on the buildings i am a sucker for thick black lines i guess. itwould be intresting to see some picture with a simple compositional story in it-
a car chase or some movie- esqe type scene,I think you could pull that off really well and it would be interesting.

I really dig the city scene from your travels, too. The close-by figures appear to be to be a little small maybe, though....
