Two studies. I tried to do a colour one since I feel a little more comfortable after all those B&W studies. I am going to spend the rest of the day doing more colour studies, maybe of simpler things or master studies, we'll see what happens =]
Colour study. These do not look like clouds
Master study.. ****** it up beyond belief

some amazing studies man
please keep doing them!

Hey V3t, good updates, good studies. Keep working hard! I wish I knew more, so I could recommend something in exactly my thoughts, but your grayscales and painting seem blury. I want to say work on your edges, planes, and define the form a little more. I'm not sure what to say, just fucking fix it, cool? I'm kidding. But I like it all, good job!
Hey! I see you going grayscale to colour, tricky part for me yet still.
I decided in the end not to try it for now, and start with colour from the start.
Anyway, do you have the RGB sliders on? I use the HSB (hue saturation brightness) ones, it is much faster to choose the colours.
And if you don't mind, I took the liberty of analyzing one of your sky drawings. The tones seemed a bit off, and when I made some
swatches, it occurred to me, some of your dark colours had a low saturation (2nd row). In general, if you have low saturated bright
tones, your dark tones are saturated. And vice versa. On the 3rd row I picked the same colour, but more saturated.
Try to keep this in mind when painting. low saturation-high saturation.
Hope I was of any help, cheers.

braineater Thank you very much, don't worry, I won't be stopping the studies and updates for a long time =]
I STRaY I Thanks for the advice, my edges are terrible making the whole image look flat and blurry. I took your advice and tried some edge control studies.
BlackDelphin That was incredibly helpful to me, thank you so so much
Two studies I done this morning, I'll try my hand at colour later and post it up if I do not destroy them completely.
These were pretty much edge control studies, trying to keep them from looking blurry. I messed them up pretty badly but I guess I just have to keep doing more.

Throwing this colour study in and rushing off, thanks again for helping guys!
A sketch, trying to steal Bouguereau's technique... It will be mine.. Oh yes, it will be mine.

Really promicing stuff here!
There is definitely improvement. You've got rid of your 'straight to details' paintings from your first posts.
The things I feel you still have to improve upon is how you show form and light. When painting, think about the forms and volumes and they will show in your images. Same goes for lighting, clearly decide where the light/lights is coming from and stay true to them. Also, you need more brushwork mileage to get a good technique going. Use the 'alt' key to select colors/values when painting and don't stop until you get a smooth value transition where required.
Hey Sleepless, thanks for all that advice, extremely helpful =]
Did not get anything done today, just so busy. So I managed to do some quick figures from ref and from imagination and a quick value study.
From ref: top. Imagination: bottom

Quick studies, I'll try upload more later.
Quick hand study.

Hey buddy, don't be hard with yourself, let others do it if necessary. You are already better than day one, you will be better in the years coming. Keep trying, think about how to improve what you see you do wrong. Cheers!
Always nice to see you Heroinz =] Being hard on myself is something I simply can't changeThat can be a bit hard when I am doing it all wrong
Thanks for popping bye =]
Two quick value studies. I'll try throw out some more work later.

Hey Unlink40, thanks for the advice, I'll try doing more stuff from life =]
Soooo, no update for yesterday, I have been pretty unmotivated because I have no idea what I want to get into with art and making me feel I am going in circles <.<
Have two studies and a doodle for today though :3
Dooooodle

Great job so far, the improvement since the beginning is noticeable (especially with that one comparison pic.) It's also great you're balancing your imagination paintings with study. keep it up dude :]
Hey Mewball, thanks, will do =].
Nothing to show today, still trying to find motivation to get out of this pit <.<

Looks like you changed from the hard to soft brush and are loosing a bit on detail now, try to balance that.
That doodle on #168 looks interesting.
Hey JDBI, I'v been using a medium round brush, been trying to stay away from it now though, hopefully it will help fix a few problems.

Great progress. When doing studies from photos life, be careful about not looking enough at how things actually are - it looks like you're assuming too much sometimes. Also be careful about going too dark. Keep up the good work!
Hey Veshkau, thanks for the advice and crit, really helpful. I'm gonna work on observing more and stop assuming things in painting =]
Some stuff for the day.

thanks for stopping by
http://ctrlpaint.com/library/
here is a library which you should definitely browse
focus especially on hard/soft edges, gray scale
also stop using low opacity brushes, for skin rendering use rather airbrush and masking
Nice sketchbook. Your values seem abit muddy so I would suggest doing plane studies. Keep up the hard work you are on the right path.
good to see you are still working hard, those last studies are quite better than what I remember last from you.
I agree with the dude about ctrl.com,use the brushes and the masking techniques on that site to control you edges.
be the change you want to see! help me improve by leaving a comment and Ill help you.
