This is really kinda funny, if you check out my sketchbook from 8 years ago I was literally doing the exact same sketchbook drawings... I actually think I recognize that train. I wonder if we went to the same school. Are you one of Ryan Woodward's students? Anyway you are doing everything the right way. I really miss living close to the zoo, that is the best way to improve you line economy. You will get some really vibrant drawings when you try to hit moving targets like that. Good work.

ps. since I kinda feel like I am talking to a younger version of myself, a word of warning from the future you. Don't spend so much time doing studies that you forget to draw silly stuff for fun . Concept art is more about good ideas than just good execution.

LOL! No sir I actually live in LA right now I go to Santa Monica College, and thats a bus
This is very flattering though coming from you I see your stuff is amazing! I sketch and do little studies a lot mainly because I have a hard time coming up with ideas lol. Maybe you can give me advice on how to be more creative (if thats even posible)

Thanks for visiting my sketchbook man! I see you're also fairly new, so welcome to CA!

Your sketches are really impressive. I really love your line work. It's so full of life! Do you have any advice on how to build up lines like that? Keep up the good work!

Thanks eroquii I started drawing with a pen a long time ago to force myself to be accurate with the shapes. Then I tried to capture the subject with the least lines as possible, and I like that I can get different thickness out of just the regular office depot ball point pen.

It became a habit for me though. I ended up not finishing any drawing because I treated everything as a sketch/study. I need to work on completing my pieces.

I am actually in Santa Monica right now too, working at Riot Games, we should do some people drawing in the area some time. It is one of my favorite ways to think too.

Some of the first ones are a bit too loose/scribbly but especially the last ones you poste are brilliant -love the style and I'm so jealous of your figure/clothing/face drawing skills xD
Please take a look at my Sketchbook! <- Comments are highly appreciated and returned C:

Thanks Heyriel The first few posts were from my little 3.5x5 moleskine I carry with me so most of them are take a couple of minutes max. The last 2 posts I spent a little more time on them so theyre a little more detailed.

I still have to work on actually completing a piece instead of just doodling and filling in the pages with crab.

Was hoping you had an update in here. i love your sketches.

Also, I tried a pen to do life sketches, but I'm not even sure if I'm going about it the right way, haha.

It maybe because I only use ballpoint pen in my sketchbooks, but I notice my drawings are very 2 dimentional. Any comments on that would be really helpful.
I have some oil paintings from the fall. Ill try to post them

Last night I was watching speed painting videos on youtube, so I got a little inspired to be more productive. I decided to paint one of the pieces from my sketchbook. I havent painted anything digitally for like a year now I think I should get back into it.

I was focusing on the face when I started, but it seems the hat kinda distracts from it a little bit.

Thanks guys! Lol the afro guy took about 4-5 hours? I got super excited after I realized I can do a decent job with photoshop haha. Lets hope the energy lasts me enough so I can accomplish more things.

Maybe 4 hours? And about 2-3 hours each pose for the other ones. That seems to be how long I can go for. If Im working on something longer than 5 hours I feel like I dont wanna look at it anymore. Maybe thats my challenge - I gotta be more patient.

How are you doing? Still working on your figures?
