Lolth - Demon Queen of Spiders

In the sixty-sixth layer of the Abyss, in a terrible realm known as the Demonweb, you will find Lolth, Demon Queen of Spiders.

She is described as a lithe dark elf woman dressed in a gossamer gown woven from the silk of spiders. She has long,
silvery hair that cascades down her back and frames a face of exquisite beauty.

In reality this appearance is a deception. Lolth is also described as a massive spider, a black widow with dripping fangs and eight chitinous legs
that support her humanoid upper body, which is bloated on devoured souls.

Your task this week is to design Lolth, Demon Queen of Spiders in any of her forms described above, or a hybrid of the two.

The Guidelines:

• Gender is female
• Please keep the style within the Dungeons and Dragons universe
• Keep in mind that in her spider form she still has humanoid features, this is still a character design!

The Rules

• Finals must be posted in the finals thread before the deadline
• Final post must include the CHoW number and the artists username at the bottom of the image
• At least 3/4 of the character must be visible
• Sketches or rushed artwork will not be accepted into the poll
• At least two wips posted with your final in the finals thread
• Background is optional
• Have fun!

Sounds pretty fun, not fond of the elf feature, might take this my own direction.



Here's some critiques so far (hopefully they help, I like to get them as early as possible), I'm real wonky with anatomy.

SixDollarSongs: Love the idea, I'm thinking of a dark puddle in a cave background. It'd be cool if the spider's weight leaned to our right to counterbalance the elf's hips.

NickyBeats: Haha, had close to the same idea, I'd only suggest to try playing around with rib focal points jutting out between the breasts, I feel like that could make it more creepy, I know it's in early stages, just thought it couldn't hurt to throw that out there.

MasterTroglodyte: Idk if it's the throne that has the legs coming from behind, but I really like that idea. Again, I know it's all early work, but I might move the head around a little to get the viewer engaged, since this is a static pose, maybe break the fourth wall? That's all I can think of at the moment. But good luck! It looks great so far.

Hi everyone. Ah, cool topic.

NickyBeats, have you seen the Babe Lab blog? It's got tonnes of good tips fro draing female bodies. Might be worth a look. I like claw hand.
SMILEFACE, Great atmosphere. I think her left hand gets lost a bit in the dark. Is it around the spiders neck?
DillonJ93, that body is gross! I don't like spiders, and it's freaking me out a little, so good job!
Wiisketch, I think it looks a bit more wood elf than darf elf with the rag tag clothing. Maybe some more classy clothing might add to the dark princess feel?
JordyLakiere, great start. Love the uplighting.

I took some of Anthony Jones's work as my inspiration. A lot of this stuff seemed particularly relevant, http://www.robotpencil.org/ . I'm pretty happy with where I've got to, and the speed of working like this. I'm bad at finishing though. Not sure what to do with it. Any pointers?
