Chances of getting into the School of Visual Arts?

I'm a senior in high school, and applying to VCUarts and SVA. I'm not too worried about being rejected from VCU, but acceptance into the School of Visual Arts vexes me. I'm paranoid I won't be accepted. I sent in the application not long ago, and my Slideroom portfolio is still in progress (I'll attach what I have so far at the end of the post). What worries me about my work is that I don't really have any drawings/paintings made from direct observation yet, which is something I know SVA stresses.
As for academics, I have a 3.7 GPA and my super scored SAT score is 1670.

If any SVA students/alumni/applicants etc. could give me their two cents, I'd be very appreciative.

How is your schedule right now? I think you should spend some time to take this class http://www.academicart.com/college.htm
They will help you with drawing from observation.

Sure, more observational stuff is always good, but you'll get in no problem. Make sure you apply for the scholarship, and with that GPA you might want to try for the honors program as well. If SVA is where you end up going, I'd love to have you in my classes. That period piece is great.

I have met with a number of experts at art schools during national portfolio day. Here is what I was told:

    1. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE COLLEGE WEB SITE. Did I emphasize this enough? Most schools want drawing from observation. Not cartoons, not fantasy but drawing from observation. You can draw buildings, people, flowers, etc. Do yourself a favor and add more of this.

    2. Use different modalities. Just don't use pen and ink. Try pencil, painting etc.

    3. Include only your best work

    4. PLEASE, PLEASE go to the nearest national portfolio day near you. You can meet with SVA admission reps as well as other admission reps to appraise your work More importantly, they will tell you what they look for. Each school looks for different things.
