The best way to get advice is to create a sketchbook in the sketchbook thread and update regularly. That's what that forum is for
For now I say do some standard light and texture studies. Right now your edges and details are unrefined - like in cat with axe and fire guy - the metal of the buckles should reflect light differently than the leathery- cloth bits.
