In the realm of concept art, not everyone's going to be a game designer, but if you look at it another way, film, television and video games and even traditional art all have the same principles attached to building an environment - you still have to plan out what it looks like and convince the viewer that it‘s a piece of an authentic world. Borrowing Corrick's words from idea suggestions thread awhile back, he said “Maybe every fifth or sixth round could be one of those hyper-detailed challenges where we have two or three objectives over a period of a couple of weeks, not just "paint a pretty picture" every time.”
Keeping with that idea, I bring to you this week’s theme, suggested by Moai and inspired by Corrick.
Topic: Birthplace of a God
2 weeks, 3 sub-challenges
Interior: The Caverns of Creation.
Exterior: The New World
Other: The Whirling Void
As seen above, this week will be split into a trilogy - 3 separate sub-challenges: interior, exterior and other. It’s your choice if you want to focus on storytelling, design “levels” of a game or simply illustrate three images that encompass the theme, or a combination of all three for that matter. Don’t be afraid to take risks as this is a learning experience!
Good luck!
Deadline: January 18, 2013
