Hey folks, my names James and i'm a third year student studying illustration. I'm hoping to create a solid portfolio of work to show around to various places after or before i graduate.

I don't really feel as though i have any work thats appropriate to show places that are after concept art but I'm now in the process creating my final major project which is the perfect opportunity to put together a healthy body of work since i could set my own brief.

It'd be lovely to get some advise from other people and critique to help me on my journey!

Hey folks, so i've started doing some rough work for my first final piece. What i chose to do for my final major project was to create some character pieces and landscape pieces based around Shakespeares Antony and Cleopatra but with a near future theme.

Here's some funny looking Cleo heads and some thumbnails, be great if people suggest which thumbnail they think i should develop further.

I'm afraid I can't critique you since you've got way more technical skills than me, but I still wanted to say that I love the storybook look you've got going there in the campfire pic. Good luck with that portfolio! I think you'll be able to develop a really distinctive style like this. ^o^

@ olay Thank you, I hope so. My nerves are setting in that i'll have to look for work soon enough but it is making me want to work harder!

Here's a study of a Lego man from their popular Mafia businessman range and a start on my final design for Cleopatra were i got to carried away experimenting with the colour of her skin. Did learn quite a bit from it though, just got to learn to apply it evenly across the whole character and not just her face!

Hey man welcome and great start to your sketchbook. Like Olay said you are far above my skills so not much of a critique but my opinion I like the first or second face for cleo but not really a fan of any of the hairstyles.
