Aspiring beginner concept artist, advice and critique wanted

Hi hopefully im posting this in the right place, sorry if not.
I am a aspiring concept artist, i have basic knowledge of fundamentals such as values and perspective, i was just looking for some advice and critiques on some of the work i have done. i first started with photo manipulation but really want to develop my skills in painted digital art.

If you really want to become good at painting then you need to become good at drawing. The understanding of fundamentals like perspective is the most useful thing you can learn to create a 3 dimensional scene. So if you can draw an entire environment then you can easily learn how to paint it, if you want to paint it without knowing how to draw it in the first place you are going to waste a lot of time and energy man.

ok thank you. i have moderately good sketching skills, the 2nd and 3rd paintings is not the best of my ability but it is the only ones i had on my new mac that i could upload. i will focus on getting a good environment sketch. would sketching from real life be the best thing? or sketching photographs. etc. thank you for the advice.

Work from life as much as you can, that is the best way to understand how environments work.

The difference between photos and from life is that in this last one you will perceive distance, in the photo not so much. Anyway you should even keep drawing from your fantasy but every time you have a doubt about something go and find some reference about that something and study it (and with study i mean draw it a lot). I'm saying you this because it's clear in your paintings that you don't have enough knowledge about anything you've made, but the key to be good at concept art or illustration is knowledge, the more you know about what you're painting the more you're able to make it believable.

ok thank you for the advice once again i will be focusing on sketching everything and anything i see now i may upload some sketches i do in the future! thank you for the advice as well dpaint. really appreciate it

iv started doing a lot more perspective sketches but im having trouble with keeping natural forms such as mountains, hills and the more intricate details in perspective. does anyone know of any videos or advice websites to help me out? i can already see a difference in my work perspective never crossed my mind for some reason :/
