Do i need a certain degree

I'm currently attending my first year in college, i was wondering if a special degree is really required(like a degree in illustration or game art) to get into concept art and game art or well a bachelors in fine art be fine too? I have no way to attend a specialty school but i didn't know if a general degree like the bachelors of fine arts would be fine as long as i can present the required skill set to an employer.

No. But it pays to have the a solid foundation in art.

Only portfolio matters when looking for work. No need for a degree. If the degree doesn't help you create a professional portfolio its useless.
