Question about high detail animation cuts

Hello

In an anime movie the level of detail is pretty consistent through out. But in some parts of a movie the background and the animation cells are highly detailed. The objects in the scene will have the edges highlighted and some airbrush work will be done as well. Is there a name for those type of animation sequences?
Are there any books out there on this subject?

I doubt there's a name for what you're talking about. I'm not even sure WHAT you're talking about without examples.
